i had done this one list but i know it'll be radically changed as i just listened to the new burning star core lp, the new mouthus on troubleman, a couple of double leopards records and loads more shit. i think i'm gonna have to separate it into a full lengths only category and then a ep/live/whatever. section. there was simply too much great stuff put out this year.

1.Orthrelm - OV CD (Ipecac)
2.Gang Gang Dance - God's Money LP (The Social Registry)

all i know so far is that the snares album is on my list. i really have to sit down sometime in december and actually pick out all of the records i bought that came out this year, put them in a pile and mull it over for a few days. but yeah, it's still just a tad early for me to be deciding.

wasn't the drop the lime album 2004? i bought it last december and it is the reason that i'm waiting a couple of weeks to get my 2005 list done.

also...that drop the lime album isn't very good. maybe 3 or 4 good tracks... "dubbio" is great, but i always skip everything and just listen to that song.

mare ep (very nice THRONES ripoff)
wilco - kicking television
hella - concentration face DVD
bpb - summer in the southeast

although they're not alike, multiples disappointed me after playthroughs (KFW)

the akron family/angels of light album is very well-arranged and mixed. the tunes ain't bad

haven't heard a lot from this year

That was 2004, and calling them a Thrones rip off is a bit of a weird comparison to me. Sure they're riding the hip sludge metal wave, but Thrones?

Anyway, it's definitely not that time for me yet. I've got to put together at least a top 100, there's no way I can do 10. So much good stuff this year.

i completely entirely disagree, i think it's easily one of the most solid full lengths of the year, and i wish it was received better.

and it came out in february. duran duran duran came out in december 2004, altho it was supposed to come out january, so im including it as 2005. or something like that. jason thought it was going to come out in january, but it started shipping and showing up in stores in december.

At this rate we'll be worse then JC whose "best of 2005" thread started in March.

At what rate? By starting a "best of 2005" near the end of November?

i've only heard a few tracks from it, but "Anisette" struck me as being very Thrones-influenced. Almost glaringly derivative. Maybe it's not, but the drum programming and sudden stop/start/retarding patterns are satisfyingly reminiscent of Thrones.
