We are sad to report the untimely passing of Geff Rushton (a.k.a. John Balance), founder of Coil, occasional member of Zos Kia, Psychic TV, Nurse With Wound, Current 93, Death In June, and friend to many. He will be sadly missed in this world.

A Book of Condolence is being established in honor at thresholdhouse.com.

Susan Sontag RIP

I wasn't a huge fan, but she was part of a dying breed of intellecutals in America. In this time when anti-intellectualism is trumpeted we need all the rational and thoughtful voices we can get. She will be missed

Hunter S. Thompson. I feel ill.

Given his love of firearms, maybe it was an accident? Everyone's reporting it as a suicide though, so he must've left a note or something...

sad.

This is terrible news - and things recently have been bleak enough. One of my heroes from my teen years (really the hero of all teens - at least those that aren't greedheads) who maintained my respect over the years with his continued astute observances. Few people could sum up in a sentence or two complex political situations.
America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.
-Hunter S. Thompson
A lot of these guys who bucked the system, who told it like it is, who fought for so much, are dying now and I haven't seen their replacements. Hunter really stomped the terra and will be missed.

Now it is time for some bourbon.
