My brother lives there, so I could try to ask him. You interested in music stuff, or just whatever?

I remember some area, I think it was called Queen Street? There was a bar/club called The Rex there, which was pretty fun, real low key. And it looked like there was a lot of good bars and stores in the same area.

There was some cd store, I think called Sams, which was worth a look. I also highly recommend a restaurant/bar called the Bier Market... they have like 100s of beers on tap, and really good mussels. It's huge, and a good place to get drunk and talk to random people.

There's a Ripley's Believe It or Not museum in Toronto? Are you thinking of the one in Niagra Falls?

Go to Soundscapes (on College) or She Said Boom (on Roncesvales and College) or even Rotate This (on Queen). They're all cool music stores. Soundscapes is a little pricey and has no used stuff but has great selection. Rotate This is pretty trendy and hipsterish, but they have some cool stuff too and plenty of vinyl.

Go up the CN Tower. Check out the Harbourfront. Go see a show. Just wander along Queen St.

There's nothing here. All the record shops mentioned are horrid. I say go mourn the site(s) in Kensington Market where Who's Emma used to be.

Making fun of Leafs/Raptors(!)/Jays fans is always a laugh.

Cosmos Records on Queen West is a good place to go to see records you would kill for but can't afford.

i think i'd have the same problem suggesting good record shops in cleveland.

i'd just tell them to drive to columbus instead.

Personally-speaking: Less predictable college picks, tons of used discs. Some specialization. Otherwise nothing's going to drag me away from mailorder and its pricing.

I've lived in Toronto for my entire life and haven't ever bought a disc in any of those shops. Tho, and likely, I'm just crazy...

I wouldn't have thought Soundscapes had predictable college picks, but they also don't have any used discs. She Said Boom is sort of hit or miss, but they have cool books too. And I can understand the criticism of Rotate This. Still, those are the best shops I've found in Toronto. Not as consistent as mail order, by any means, but I still like actually going into stores.
