I don't think with the current rules of the NBA that great defense beats great offense

I definitely agree with that; however the defensive team can turn the game into trashketball. Btw, I have to give Doc Rivers (not a fave among some here) credit for playing deep into his bench to keep guys fresh. Enforcer, that glorified placeholder who reports to Joe D should take note.

That was a big one. On the road with no Billups. Stuckey didn't play well, but Rip Hamilton with a usual big game performance when it counts most. Rasheed and the rest of the Pistons bigs create a lot of problems for Howard. Dumars makes sure every single year to stockpile big men so he has options and plenty of fouls when they get to the playoffs and face some of these monster PFs and Cs. One of many things he does well as a GM.

The Celtics have been so bad on the road (so far) that I question how far they'll go. Teams that play like night and day like this rarely do major damage in the playoffs.

yeah, that was impressive, although Turkoglu looked like he was going to beat them singlehandedly near the end there.

good job by the Cavs, wire to wire. LeBron still needs to kick it up a few notches for them to make this a real series, though. Delonte West!

Anyone else see the Bill Russell-Kevin Garnett piece on ESPN? Did it make anyone else a little uncomfortable? I'm a huge Russell fan, but I have no idea why he picked Garnett to bestow the kinds of honors he was throwing KG's way. Incredible that Russell is so loyal to, and passionate about, Celtics basketball, considering the way he was sometimes treated there.

I only saw a second of this, but it makes sense to me, in a wishful thinking kind of way. Russell was the rare superstar who led his team primarily from the defensive end, same with KG. of course, the bottom line (winning) is amusingly opposite, but that's where the wishful thinking part comes in.

Is there some sort of dream, late-night NBA sports bar in Berlin where they might show Game 5 (Tuesday) ?? I see no reason why it shouldn't exist considering the all-hours electronic music community here ... There have to be some basketball fans who like to come down while watching NBA games.

If that's a lost cause someone help me out with a place to watch this on the internet.

The "Bill Russell cache" gets bestowed on a player or a coach or a team every so often. Sports fans have short memories, so each time they roll him out it's a brand new religious experience.
