You understand that the right to free speech means that the government won't prosecute you, no? And that companies can take action against employees for saying things they don't like.

I find it hard to believe that someone in a GM position didn't realize the impact his statement, with which I agree, would have on the team and league. If he didn't he's very naive but if he did, I guess he felt strongly about making his mark in the sand even if it costs him a lot. Or maybe he figured the league would let him slide.

My theory is he was in Hong Kong (true), partying with his friends and drunk, and tweeted while drunk without thinking about it too much.

First, the demonstrators are not separatists, that's Chinese government propaganda.
Secondly, the only "statement" Morey made was his apology. He merely retweeted the first time.
Third, for reasons I spelled out on Facebook, I believe the Chinese government deeply embarrassed itself, which is good for the world.
Fourth, I have to reevaluate who I am rooting for this year.

I'm unhappy with:
1. Brooklyn Nets, whose owner, Joseph Tsai makes his predecessor, Prokorhov seem benevolent
2. James Harden and Tilman Fertitta.
3. Steve Kerr

Entertaining pre-season game against the T-Wolves, 40 for Steph in 25 minutes. With both WC-S and Looney out, Marquese Chriss is starting at center. With Chriss and Cauley-Stein, the Dubs now have two physically talented young bigs, both high first-round picks who have underperformed and are hungry for a fresh start. (And of course they have Looney, an overperforming low first round pick.) 19 points for Jordan Poole, who turned 20 in June.

I have always loved LeBron but this was pretty terrible, although I get his meaning ('Morey, did you really need to post that right before we went to China because it made our week much worse?'). this made me laugh a lot though:
