I think zone defenses would have really hurt him, but he had a nice touch and I think would have developed more range if he came up in today's game.

if you didn't see, the Celtics signed gigantic (7'7", 311) Tacko Fall to a FA deal, so their summer league viewability just went way up.

Hah, I didn't notice that. Thanks! He gave his program...visibility...for years!

One problem he had late in the year was turnovers. He'd dribble when doubled and IIRC had to be removed from a couple of B1G tournament games because of that (and his foul shooting woes).

He may have taken a step backward his senior year, and I'm not sure how that can have been allowed to happen. Maybe other teams just figured his limitations out finally. He'd been torching them since he was a freshman.

But I still think he's an NBA player. We'll see.

So what does everyone think of the Lakers chances? I see opinions all over the place and am still mostly skeptical considering the massive number of holes needing filling, but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise.

let's see who they actually end up with, half the league is still free agents.

Kemba Walker to BOS, Kyrie to Brooklyn, and Mirotic signs in Europe. many more shoes to drop, led by Kawhi and Durant...

Dubs will reportedly sign Klay to 5 years, 190M, Bell and Cook have been extended qualifying offers, and Looney will be meeting with the Warriors, Bulls, and Rockets. The team and Livingston have agreed to postpone their decision on his staying for the last year of his contract.

Nobody knows Durant's mind, heavy guessing narrows it down to staying or Brooklyn.
Mrcus Thompson on Curry visiting Durant yesterday: " . . . it could potentially be a big deal that Curry is going. Even though the Warriors have several All-Star-level championship players, Curry and Durant would be the pillars of the Warriors if Durant decides to stay. They would be the faces of the franchise and their relationship figures to be the most important.
Even in 2016, Durant said the key thing he wanted to know was whether Curry wanted him on the team."

Local radio reports KD to the Nets. DeAndre said to be planning to join him and Kyrie.

Dubs get D'Angelo Russell(!), trade Iggy.

Russell will start until Klay returns. He's just 23.

Curry is a much better defender than Russell and this is after the excellent BRK development program made Russell into a better player.

Looney is as good as gone. Warriors are hard capped now. Jordan Bell will be gone if any team wants to pay him much above the minimum.

If LAL sign Kawhi, do they also get Igoudala? Memphis is probably going to cut him.

KD's biographer, Marcus Thompson said it boiled down to KD wanting to play with his buddies, KI and DAJ. The Nets making the playoffs hurt the Knicks. Kyrie says dumb things but he was smart enough to go to the better organization and get KD to buy in.

Knicks will have cap space for two max contracts in two years so we can hear about their interest in Giannis, who won't sign with them. I watched the Michael Kay interview in Feb when Dolan bragged about the Knicks forthcoming success in free agency. Now they are looking at 32-52, having struck out again. Will Perry/Mills even be there in two years. Dolan even leaked yesterday that the Knicks didn't offer KD the max. Do they think they are kidding anybody?

David Griffin has continued has great restructuring of the Pelicans. Elton Brand had a good day, too.

agree with all of that, especially about Russell being a strange fit in GS and the Knicks being a joke who deserve the worst and seem to be getting it.

Talk is Russell will be a good trading piece once Klay returns, and they'll be entertaining until then.
They're maxed, but Lacob has suggested he'll pay what it takes to build a team, money be damned, and they're moving into a new stadium (which will immediately become San Francisco's #1 concert venue), so Meyers may still have some moves up his sleeve.
But I sure hope you guys are wrong about Looney and Bell.

Seth Curry signs with Dallas, teams with Luka for a lively young backcourt.

Getting Horford was huge because it lets them manage Embiid's minutes plus Horford always played him tough. And it fucks the Celtics. This for a team that barely lost to the champs. Philly's upside hinges on whether or not Simmons develops a serviceable outside shot, the only glaring hole in his game. I'm not optimistic.

Pelinka must be leaking to that dimwit Broussard, who had Seth Curry going to the Lakers.

The Warriors are hard-capped now. $138,928,000. They can't spend a penny more and all possible bonuses count towards the total. The hard cap expires a year from today. Danny Leroux, "Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Russell are owed a combined salary of $118.8 million for 2019-20, so the Warriors have about $20 million to work with for the rest of the roster this season. Considering most teams carry 13 or more players, that is about $2.2 million per player to fill out the roster. Their second-round picks will likely come in at a lower number than that, but it makes retaining any of their remaining free agents very difficult. Kevon Looney and DeMarcus Cousins, in particular, appear out of their price range and another front office could easily make an offer sheet to Jordan Bell that the Warriors would have serious trouble matching."

Later edit: Celtics sign Kanter, presumably now out of the running for Looney.

They rerouted Shabazz Napier, Treveon Graham from the BRK trade to MIN and let Jordan Bell leave for a min deal with the TWolves, too and got Looney at an extremely team friendly deal, IMO.

Kawakami- If Looney starts at $4.8M this season, they'd have about $9.5M for 5 or 6 more players. If you count the 2nd-rd picks as $900k each, that's $7.7M for 3 or 4 more players. (3 more would get them to 13 players, which is the minimum. They went with 14 last season. 15 is the max.)
Edit: He's reportedly making $4.6M in year one.
The Knicks are paying 34 year old Taj Gibson over twice as much as the Dubs are paying Looney next year!

Curry is the only Warrior over 30.

If Boston plays Toronto in the playoffs next year will Kanter have to miss all of the road games? Probably.

Gordon: How do the two-way contracts with the G-League impact the salary caps?
