At halftime last week the Rams were way ahead, so the Bears had absolutely nothing to play for. They could have rested their starters, let the Vikings win, and play the Vikings again this week. Instead they decided that they were going to play their starters the entire game. They won, let the Eagles (the better team) into the playoffs, and lost to those Eagles.

it would look even worse if they had let the Vikings win and then lost to the Vikings this week, this is one of those things that 'observers' think is obvious but organizations would never actually do.

I guess I deserved that.

There are all kinds of things you could nitpick -- didn't seem like they could cover Robinson, so why not take more shots? -- but they were right there, after their kid quarterback answered the call with under a minute left. I'll be seeing that kick on endless loop in my mind for a while. Ryan Pace releasing Robbie Gould is one of his few missteps in the recent past.

Still. the Bears arrived ahead of schedule. All the important players are on the right side of 30. They have a great GM-coach combo and a growing young quarterback, and their lone starter up for free agency is Adrian Amos. Life gets harder with a first-place schedule, but for the first time in a long while, the Bears' arrow is pointing up.

Btw, nobody has addressed it yet, but the onside kick has GOT to be addressed this offseason.

My solution is as simple as it gets. At the end of a game where it is a must onside kick situation, allow them to line up in the traditional style. It still takes away the surprise onside kick, but I'm alright with that.

Jets hire recently fired Dolphins coach Adam Gase to be their new head coach, presumably because they think he will be good for Darnold.

Gase was one of the two firings I didn’t see coming. I thought he got far more out of that Dolphins roster than many would have.

Yes. I don't understand why they changed the rule to disallow "overloading."

That's really interesting. Thanks. But I didn't notice mention the point of prohibiting the "overloading" (rather than moving the kicking team up to the ball (to reduce speeds and injuries). Did I miss that?

perfect example of why I still enjoy watching football but don't really care at all about the results, that non pass interference call at the end of regulation ended up deciding the game, as it seemed at the time.

Officials missed a call that could have been pass interference, helmet to helmet, unnecessary roughness, face guarding, any of them. Instead it was none of them.
