I just returned from my Sunday league game, where we played this team of mostly Italians (they're self-named "Azzurri" of course), well the men are Italian or Italian-American, the women are who knows what, just non-hyphenated Americans. We lost 4-2. I've somehow been scheduled to play this team every year I've played in this league, across three different teams I've been on, and never managed to be on the winning side, not once. And they always leave a bad taste in my mouth, the way they play, the attitude they bring into the game. Usually very physical, always with the little shirt tugs, and arm checks, and contested headers.

I always had sympathy for Zidane, even when it happened I thought to myself, "Fuck Materazzi, that guy deserved every inch of it."

yeah, but only his second, i think? rats show signs of disintegration though. unless dortmund completely falls apart (possible) there'll be no cl next season. there might also be not much of a team

i don't know kovac well enough, and he might do a great job, but bayern would be in a crisis right now except for heynckes and they do not have the players to boss the team around on the field. so to have a chance of winning the cl next year probably a very ambitious coach with lots of game plan could be better than a proposed team player ... also i still don't quite believe that tüchel will actually start at psg ... while bayern might have been a difficult fit, they would still have made so much more sense both for him and them ... anyway, since i'm sure rangnick is thinking about a more tactically astute coach, how about tuchel to the rats in the end?

I only know Kovač as a international player (long time holding midfielder for Croatia), and as the Croatia national team coach. He was promoted from U21 team to senior team coach for the last few qualifying matches in 2013, and then 2014 WC, and some of Euro qualifying in 2015. Its not wise to evaluate a coach's merit based on a small sample of national team results, but he was not a flying success. Again I have not followed Frankfurt but this seems like a bit of a left field appointment. Good for him though, I wish him well.

Not confirmed, but I have heard Tuchel to PSG is all but done.

Lots happening, and no time to post. Spurs throw it away at Wembley in the FA Cup. I was on a ski holiday and didnt see it thankfully. Arsene Wenger is finally out. And Mo Salah wins player of the year and helps Liverpool thrash Roma:

same with Spurs. Looks like Toby A is on the way out (and possibly Danny Rose) which would be a huge loss for Spurs. Starting to wonder if this is the beginning of the end of the Poch era.
