I see Northwestern's Trevor Siemian will be Denver's starting QB this year. I watched him play quite a bit the last few years. Amazingly, he was only the co-starter most of the time at NU. Siemian always threw well, but they sometimes liked to use a guy (forget his name, but he was the guy who started the agitation for unionization of college football players) who was basically a small running back. FWIW, I always thought Siemian was pretty mobile himself, just not the runner the other guy was. Anyhow, I'll look forward to see how he does in the bigs. (If any of y'all recall, I never cared for Osweiler: I'll be surprised if he does well in Texas.)

Wow! And they were a definite playoff team, IMO. That defense could keep them afloat, but I can't see them as serious contenders without Bridgewater. Huge loss.

I can't believe how badly the Vikings fucked their future with that move. Bradford will do fine for them; I might be alone in considering Bridgewater hugely overrated and he'll be even worse in the future if his mobility is impaired. Minnesota wasn't gonna win the division against the Pack anyway so I'm not sure what the thinking was on this.

I think the Packers are terribly overrated. They were slightly better than mediocre last year, and their only upgrade is a 31y.o. WR coming off a season ending injury. And I'll believe Fat Eddie is an elite RB if he ever shows me any reason to. Defense is sturdy, but not earth shattering.

I'd prefer the potential number one defense in the NFL this year, as well as a proven stud RB like Peterson. That's one more piece of the puzzle than Peyton Manning had last year, and he walked away with a ring.

who do you think are the best teams, Scott? my Jets report, based on not too much, is this:

1) Forte was an idiotic signing and looks as slow as Tomlinson did when the Jets signed him, Powell is OK but Khiry Robinson impressed me this past game, admittedly against third-stringers or whatever, but with RBs, they either have a burst or they don't. Forte looks slow, Robinson doesn't.

2) the defense looks really good, people say Revis has fallen back (admittedly from god-like), but he was playing through an injury down the stretch last year, so could go back to dominant.

3) none of this matters, as their first six games are as tough as I've ever seen for any team. they'll be lucky to come out of those 2-4 and needing to play close to perfect the rest of the way to make the playoffs.

I actually haven't paid a great deal of attention to this point, jon. But, I have little doubt that Arizona and Seattle are two of the best teams coming into the season.

After that I guess you have to look at the Bengals, with the Patriots and Steelers as big question marks due to suspensions (which seem absolutely off the chart this season).

As for Forte, he may be done. All I'll say is that I want to see him in the regular season. If he's even 80% of what he used to be, you guys could have one of the better offensive units in the league, considering your makeshift line holds up.

Oh, and I'm not buying the ridiculous hype on Ezekiel Elliott. Reminds me too much of what we heard about Trent Richardson coming into his rookie season. Maybe he is that good, but let's slow down with annointing him as the next Jim Brown.
