Geno looked horrendous yesterday, but if we are assigning blame, I think it's probably primarily on Ryan at this point. the team is talented but just make so many mistakes, plus his vaunted defense not only has no secondary but has a shot at the alltime league record for fewest turnovers forced. Geno was asked to start immediately and didn't have much help at all last year, I think he might look a lot better in a more professional organization, which the Jets most certainly are not. Idzik I don't think has had enough time yet to fully judge, although the way he dealt with the secondary this year made it clear even in preseason that it would be a lost season.

The Jets are in a favorable cap position and will get a premium draft pick. Teams can rebuild in a hurry in the NFL. I hope Rex gets fired and Idzik is given a free hand to rebuild the team. That said, giving up a pick for nine games (if he doesn't miss any due to injury) of Percy Harvin smacks more of desperation than methodical planning.

Geno's looked better at times than I expected, especially on a team as flawed as the Jets. I didn't see yesterday's game though.

I've been very impressed with Emmanuel Sanders' play with the Broncos this year but didn't realize until now that he's caught 78% of the 60 passes thrown his way. He averages 13.6 yards/reception, not too shabby.

I have to admit that I've always been a fan of Manny Sanders, but I've been shocked by his play this year.

Like my perpetual WR mancrush, Jerricho Cotchery, I think he just needed to find the right system to flourish in.

It's actually somewhat bizarre, but some of my favorite underrated WRs have come from the Jets. Al Toon, Wayne Chrebet, Jerricho Cotchery, and now Jeremy Kerley.

Whew! I would have had to put you on ignore if you had said Keyshawn Johnson

No, he would be in the overrated WRs category.

I lost all respect for him when he whined in his dopey book because Chrebet was better than him.

I feel the same way. He'd be in the overrated section of the jerk store.

BTW, has anyone else seen Dick Stockton lately? Cat still has one of the best play-by-play voices of all time, but he looks more and more like the Crypt Keeper every time I see him. He has not aged gracefully...

I used to be a huge Stockton fan when he did the NBA but he should've retired at least a decade ago. He gets almost everything wrong on the field and you need a fucking roster to know who he's talking about.

I feel bad for people who watch Thursday night football, the Sunday top AFC game and play Madden. Talk about Opie overload!

Everybody pick your favorite NFL telecast analyst, unless it's Chuckie, in which case keep it to yourself :P

My vote is Collingsworth.

All time, Paul Maguire. Hands down, and no one else is even close.

Currently, as much as I used to hate him, it's Collingsworth.

And though they tend to be polarizing, I think both Simms and Aikman are pretty solid

For some reason I really like Gannon and Fouts. And Aikman. Maybe I just like quarterbacks :? . Gannon can get really critical which I find hilarious because that's how I thought of him as a player. I used to like to listen to Billick but for some reason Fox didn't extend his contract.

If I were to say one person it would probably be Aikman. Lots of people seemed to be making snarky comments about him having taken too many head shots a few seasons ago but he sounds pretty sharp most of the time to me. Maybe broadcasting with Joe Buck was the problem.

it's funny, I kind of find them all interchangeable. in other sports, I am pretty particular but I can't think of any NFL guys that really bug me or excite me.

Yeah, Billick was very good.

Worst analyst of all time still being Matt Millen. When he was in the booth I'd be downright suicidal at times. He tried to be a poor man's John Madden and failed on an epic scale.

Honorable mention to that little weasel Jerry Glanville. Goddamn was that noisy fuck annoying.

For some reason I've always had a soft spot in my noggin for Millen. Solomon Wilcotts doing the Browns preseason games forced me to mute my television; he's not that bad in regular season games though. Probably everybody here is too young to have endured Fred "The Hammer" Williamson's mercifully short stay on MNF; he seems to be a good guy so I don't get any pleasure out of saying that. Likewise Dennis Miller who was badly misplaced.

I can only imagine how bad Gruden was last night when broadcasting a game his brother was coaching.

IMO last night's game pointed out the miniscule difference between teams considered to be really good and bad.

maybe in the NFC, but there is a massive split in the AFC between the bottom four and everyone else as I pointed out the other day (they are a combined 4-27!!).
