I was a little disappointed in the new Ulcerate but I only gave it one listen so far. I like the new Carcass and Gorguts better, with the latter coming out on top for me too.

That oranssi pazuzu is great, thanks got the tip. Another one I've been listening to a lot is lycus - tempest, a really strong work.

Oof, a lot of great stuff has been released lately -- three great ones from 20 Buck Spin -- Lycus, Mammoth Grinder, and as noted already above, ORANSSI PAZUZU. I've been mostly listening to weird black metal, Dodsengel, Mare, Niantiel, and others. I've also been digging the same classic dog-roll-in-shit death metal like early Vader, Immolation, and Embryo.

I will say the biggest metal related event was the Mare show in Chicago, which was impressive. Niantiel, and Sortilegia played as well and were fucking great. I would recommend all of these bands -- most of the stuff is kind of hard to come by so download it and bliss out. I met Antichrist Kramer there and he was surprisingly nice and down to earth and not at all like how I would have though him to be. What a strange planet we live on.

On a side note...does someone know a good onlne metal store located in Europe ? I'm trying to avoid to order anything from the USA like I've Lways done in the past, between increased shipping costs and some horrible tax experience it's beoming really expensive

Never heard the demo, but the album sounds very good to me.

I'm liking a lot the new Convulse album. Very decent old school death metal with good songwriting. Also the new Subrosa is excellent even if I'm not sure if it really falls in the metal genre. Usually I don't care about classic epic metal, but the album from Atlantean Kodex is a pleasure to listen to, with some catchy majestic epicness.

Have you tried Iron Bonehead? http://ironbonehead.de/shop/ It's more underground death/black, but some good stuff on there none the less.

Listening to Cornigr lately, specifically their Relics of Inner War lp, which is pretty amazing traditional black metal from Finland. It gets compared to Mayhem's DMDS, which I think is sort of apt. But it's not a total rip off. Underground and proud kinda stuff.

Also, the newer Acrimonious record, Sunyata, is totally worth checking out for anyone who likes Nightbringer, Aosoth, and mid-period DSO. Plainly awful head-shop cover art aside (which I kinda like for its perversity), this is good stuff.

I listened this a few days ago while doing....the gym It has some nice guitar work (yeah...sometimes very catchy and poppy) but I don't know, all songs sound kinda the same to me

Looking forward to hear the new Vastum. The first album had some of the most entertaining vocals imo.

The new Vastum that Cleanzero mentioned is one I'm really looking forward to. Bataille influenced death metal.

I love the new Grave Upheaval (and "murk core", ha). It probably was my fave metal release this year until I heard the new Antediluvian.

I'll second that, and they were both great records, hard to put one over the other.
