Just gave that J Stalin a spin, good shit. A bit behind on his recent output but I love him.

I can't seem to stop listening to the track called Married to the Streetz. The first Bodysnatchers from last year was good too.

I know he's got a big discography but I haven't been a fan for long, he's grown on me. I should really listen to his other releases.

The new Kurupt is pretty good. I was no expecting it to be as strong as it is, 'cause its a long-ass mixtape with a bunch of no-name (at least to me) features. To balance that out, though, it has E-40, Too Short, and Snoop Dogg (who is thankfully not in his Snoop Lion persona). Masta Killa shows up, too, for a track, which is weird, but mostly 'cause I haven't thought of him in ages. This isn't anywhere near as good as DJ Quik & Kurupt's album from a few years ago, but Kurupt goes hard in places and the tape is definitely worth a download.

Mr. Quam: have you heard Cousin Fik's new tape? I remember you writing about something of his a while back. I downloaded it, but haven't got a chance to listen to it, maybe on the way to work today.

Armstrong - Vampire Nation

I recently read Andrew Noz's RBMA article about Orlando rap from last year (http://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/maga ... op-orlando) and grabbed a bunch of mixtapes. Vampire Nation has really good beats, and really strange vocab. Pretty solid all around. This one is the best I've heard so far, and Armstrong is definitely my favorite of this scene, dude raps his ass off. I'd also recommend Flav Rock's - Stoner Man (which has the line "pussy hit me on my phone talkin wreckless/he say he want a brick, i give him aceatone and cake mix). Killa Creeper is good too, though the tape of his I've heard (Jackboy Hero) only had a few good ones, mostly filler/wack.



J Stalin - Return of the Body Snatchers

Mr O'Grady put me onto this one, didn't know he had a new tape. Good shit, especially into "All I Been Doing". Definitely worth a listen.



Field Mob - 613 Ashy to Classy

I somehow never heard this album until last week. An Atlanta masterpiece to these ears. "Crutch" makes me holler at the top of my lungs everytime. Such a great album. I miss this vibe.



joker the bailbondsman - bi-polar

The most famous rapper from Alaska (and only one I know of). Dude is on the cover doing the iditarod like a boss. Obviously this all sounds schticky, but he's actually a pretty good rapper. Weirdly, like the same day I heard about this guy, Noz posted his video for Un-Huh/Money in a Ziplock Bag with Bizzy Bone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iX-wEG2JjY) which is one of tracks on the album. Definitely worth listening to this one, especially for the dividend raps. Unfortunately this guy has been in prison on drug charges for a while now (though maybe he's out? I hope so).



Chance The Rapper - Acid Rap

I imagine most people reading this thread have checked this one out. I was pretty excited about it, and think it turned out good. The features are all pretty wack (mostly because they just aren't rappers I like), though Twista is good. My favorite song is "Chain Smoker", maybe because I relate, Cocoa Butter, and Juice. The little juke intros/outros are ok too, though obviously I'm biased on that subject. Ether way dude can rap.



C-Murder - Bossalinie

Probably my favorite C Murder. Haven't heard this one in forever.



Krayzie Bone - Thug Mentality 1999

Another one I've been revisiting. I love this album. The War Iz On was my favorite song in 8th grade. Love everything about this one.



Hit Em Up Thugz - lady bee presents hit em up thugz - we got tha juice


This one kills. Throwin Blows makes me want to punch somebody in the fucking face. Spotty, but when it's good, it's good.



Puppy Dogg - The Moscow County Gangsta

This one sounds like fucking SHIT. Not the best Memphis tape or anything, but pretty decent. Worth hearing if your into this kind of stuff, at least once.



Lil Warriorz - 5000 Degreez

Like 4 middle school kids playing Cash Money instead of legos after school. Another once worth hearing at least once. "Hot Cakes" goes pretty hard.

"When Gangsta's Rap" is very close to my favorite rap of all time.... "Mollywhoppin' on foes every fuckin' day, I love that word, mollywhoppin', that's my favorite, mayne." I sometimes get sick of Jacka's melancholy, I'm-A-Muslim-But-I-Sell-Dope raps, but Husalah never gets old, at least for me.

hadnt heard the album "Legends" by Above The Law until recently, worth a listen, really digging the production on it

did you not watch BET Uncut? I used to set my VCR to tape that show, and Joker had a couple of videos in heavy rotation back then. Always dug that dude.

and on the subject of Jacka, Tear Gas was his masterpiece. And I like some of the younger dudes he's signed recently, especially Street Knowledge. That song "Fuck Wit A Playa" is good.

I prefer The Jack Artist to Tear Gas. I like Joe Blow and a bunch of the Akron rappers he's has connections with.

I watched BET Uncut a little but not a lot. I read that he had the most videos shown on that show (six). But yea, dude is new to me, though that Bizzy Bone video seems like a hazy distant memory that I probably saw back then.


Tear Gas is definitely Jacka's best.
