Agreed, but there are rumors Ilyasova's older than 25. I like his game, though. The G Man wrote:Bucks offer Ilyasova $40M for five years. That's too low! Somebody else should steal him away. He is good! Gerald Wallace is making $40M for only four years and Ilyasova is a better player and only 25.

You, of all people, should understand
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
Aha. Thanks--I didn't understand that. My 12-year-old daughter will be extremely happy about that. She's among the rabid Lin fans (he's right up there with Ryan Higa), and, for some reason, she's also a NY fan (she has a Yankees hat and a Yankees shot glass, anyhow). Also, we get a lot more Knick games than Rocket games on TV here.no, he is a RFA, so NY can match any offer, and since Houston was kind of wussy about their offer to him (the fourth year is a team option, so it's essentially the same deal that TOR gave the worthless Landry Fields, 3/20), he's almost certainly coming back to NY.
The affect Lin has on Asian Americans like her is palpable.

Re: NBA Offseason 2012
I went to a late-season Cavs/Knicks game and it was impossible to not notice the large number of East Asians in the crowd who'd bought tix, I assume, before Lin got injured. The only negative is the SHF benefits from something he had absolutely nothing to do with.walto wrote:The affect Lin has on Asian Americans like her is palpable.
Without hyperbole I've really got nothing
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
Williams said yesterday that he would have chosen Dallas if the Nets hadn't signed Johnson. You are right that given the hole the Nets were in they had to sign Johnson. Memo to owners: Don't ever hire DWill as your GM.jon abbey wrote:Joe Johnson to the Nets for a pile of nothing, possibly contingent upon them resigning Deron Williams.
so the core of the team would be Williams/Johnson/Wallace and Brook Lopez, not sure if they could keep Humphries. that seems like a team that won't ever get out of the first round of the playoffs, doesn't it?
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
I don't know. If they can keep Humphries that doesn't seem like too bad a team to me--maybe a little weak on defense, but no worse than the Celtics on offense or rebounding. What's the bench?

like much of the league currently, it's unclear as of now.

Allen to Heat.

Re: NBA Offseason 2012
NY resigns Novak, trades for Camby and is supposedly closing in on a deal with JR Smith. this gives them a pretty good nine man rotation once Shumpert is back from his injury:
Lin
Shumpert
Melo
Amare
Chandler
Kidd
Smith
Novak
Camby
Lin
Shumpert
Melo
Amare
Chandler
Kidd
Smith
Novak
Camby
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
Camby was my favorite Knick his first time around with the team.
I bet nobody would have thought 10 years ago that he would be signing a 3 year deal at age 38. His missed time due to injuries early in his career may be one of the reasons why he's pretty healthy today.
The Knicks need to sign JR, who will be the lowest paid of their top nine and then find some other guys, probably Jeffries and at least two guards who can hit three's.
One key to the Camby trade is that the Knicks kept him from Miami.
If the Howard trades goes down with Brooklyn, the Nets should try to sign Elton Brand to play the four. They can pay him the veterans minimum and it won't cost him anything because he was amnestied. Howard, Brand, Wallace, Johnson, Williams would be a great defensive team.

there's a claiming order, teams with cap room go first, so he'll never get to the Nets. The G Man wrote:If the Howard trades goes down with Brooklyn, the Nets should try to sign Elton Brand to play the four. Of course, I forgot about that. Not sure what Philly has gained by their off-season moves.jon abbey wrote:there's a claiming order, teams with cap room go first, so he'll never get to the Nets. The G Man wrote:If the Howard trades goes down with Brooklyn, the Nets should try to sign Elton Brand to play the four. Re: NBA Offseason 2012
just butting in here to say that NYC basketball might maybe possibly be a ton of fun this year. if some bonkers Dwight Howard deal goes through I will definitely be walking to that new stadium in my neighborhood.
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
I need to live in Brooklyn. My former boss is a NYC guy and he once told me, "You coulda been from Brooklyn." I told him it was the nicest thing anyone ever said to me.
Guys, please make this happen.
Okay, got a bit OT there, back to the NBA talk. I'm kind of excited about the potential for the Pistons this year. I think a playoff spot is within reach.

1) we welcome you here, let me know what I can do to help that happen.
2) why will Detroit be better this year? (genuine question, not paying much attention to them thus far)

No, I hadn't seen that. Thanks. (Molto dramatico, though. Also quite a bit of military ostinati.)

Re: NBA Offseason 2012
Wow, the Heat supposedly getting Rashard Lewis too. As if they needed help. All aboard the easy ring train.
Re: NBA Offseason 2012
Lewis has been awful for a few seasons now, I'll believe he'll be a factor when I see it.
rumors popping up of a three way deal with Howard to the Lakers, Bynum to Houston, and a flood of young players and draft picks to Orlando. makes more sense than the Brooklyn deal, we'll see.

The Knicks should still be better than the Nets after Shumpert's return in January if Howard goes elsewhere.jon abbey wrote:Lewis has been awful for a few seasons now, I'll believe he'll be a factor when I see it.
