to me Nate Wooley (and to a certain extend the whole of the clean feed aesthetic) owes a lot to the style and spaciousness(!) of Bill Dixon, so I would definitely recommend checking Vade Mecum 1 & 2beefbeefmeat wrote:i just checked out that red trio & nate wooley stem recording. i really enjoyed it... i know next to nothing about jazz and would love to hear some similiar stuff.

Re: Now Playing

Passing Resemblance. I love this (but then I habitually endorse Mites product), similar structure to "it's something" with genius layering and transitioning on face a and then disruptions of the flow; where "something"'s second half sort of felt almost wandelweiserian to me in that it worked from the silence, now there's killer heartwrenching drop-outs in glorious wilfulness (no, not now! later, please ...). Good move.

Open Strings - Early Virtuoso Recordings From The Middle East, And New Responses
Re: Now Playing

Koura - Sisho (and/OAR)
Set of 67 tracks, of which half are immersive field recordings (ranging from urban conversations to mechanical sounds, to nature) and half are silences of varying lengths.
The odd concept, is that it supposed to be played on shuffle, which (I did), for several hours while had friends in the house. People would wonder in the room where the disc was playing thinking a TV was on, but puzzled trying to figure out what was going on

Fennesz, Vainio & Zanési: GRM Experience
top 3 fennesz for me. spare and harsh at times, but also has a few warm, smoldering tracks. great on a hot day.

Gregory Isaacs- "Mr Isaacs"
Re: Now Playing

freshest sounding prodigy record in years
Re: Now Playing

Ferran Fages - for Pau Torres
flowing nocturnal guitar improv, kind of desert blues(?), widely extended spaces, is bracketed by some terrific feedback noise. my favorite disc of his.
