Great ending to the last major of the year for the PGA (three playoff holes is the way to go; sudden death is too flukey and another 18 is just too fucking much) as it now comes to grips with the negative part of the Faustian bargain with Eldrick. Great job by Bradley recovering from the triple bogey which would've sent lesser players' games into the toilet. Has anybody ever seen back to back great shots like Dufner and Bradley had for their second shots on 16? Felt bad for Dufner, who will have lingering nightmares of the green on 17 but Keegan played lights out by taming very difficult holes (although learn to congratulate your opponent first in a playoff before getting hugs from your family, son).

I missed the whole thing, and have yet to see the replays. But, from everything I've read and heard about it it was quite amazing.

It was cruising along like a turd of a tournament and then all of a sudden Bradley caught fire and Dufner slowly faded. You should really see the tee shots on the first playoff hole. Dufner must alternately dream of dropping Agent Orange, nuclear waste or salt on the 17th green.

I'm not a huge fan of golf, but that was one thrilling finish yesterday. When Bubba put it in the trees I thought sure he'd just blown it, then he hooked that miracle one onto the green. Crazy!

Oosthuizen getting a double eagle was pretty impressive too.

Had to feel a little bad for Oosthuizen, he played stellar golf. First double eagle at the Masters in 18 years, and the first ever at that hole. Incredible shot.

I like to use the correct name for a hole that is played in three under par, "albatross." I think double eagle is only used in the U.S.

A guy I know was at the Masters. Oosthuizen's second shot on the second and final playoff hole bounced off his friend's foot.

The Masters and the Knicks-Bulls game made for quite an exciting sports day. I like Bubba and was happy to see him win. Pretty unbelievable that he never took a lesson in his life, considering how good he is.

That was a great finish yesterday. Watson's shot onto the green on the second playoff hole was incredible. Love the idea that somebody with such an unorthodox style can win the Masters.

RIP Ken Venturi; you weren't far away from death when you played 36 on the final sweltering day at Congressional in 64 as I was soaking my feet in a pond in the shade. I had no idea I was present for your only major win. For three days you were better than Fat (at the time) Jack, Arnie, Casper, Littler, Finsterwald, Boros and everybody else.

The USGA has to be pleased with the way Merion has punished everybody but Phil. I still can't believe that two years ago some fucking dimwit cut the rough at Congressional and was very confident that it would grow back; only followed by two weeks of no rain and barely distinguishable from the fairway. Idiot.

Well--keep in mind I hate the guy--but when it started raining, he obviously wanted them to suspend play (which they didn't). He happened to be on camera when he asked one of the officials there about whether there'd been any lightning warnings.

It's my understanding that, in spite of him spending more time and energy on his "image" than anybody else on the tour, he's also one of the least liked players, probably because real stuff tends to leak out, in spite of those kinds of efforts. (I'm thinking now about his whining about all the taxes he has to pay, and threatening not to play anymore if tax rates don't go down. This was in a year when the poor bastard made only $48 million playing golf and selling his endorsements.)

I loved it when he ended up bogeying 18. May he come in second forever.

Phil put up a final round yesterday they'll be talking about for quite a while. I'm far from his biggest fan but when he gets on rolls like that, it's as exciting as anything you can find in golf.
