Well, I think indie rockers are used to dissonance and density, and The Flirts has those, as well as energy and propulsion. I don't even love their album, but I could see someone from that background enjoying it and maybe being curious for more. And I don't know anything about Mantovani :)

Just as well! (That's Annunzio Paolo Mantovani, not Bruno :))

Could somebody give any album-title of The Flirts? At Allmusic and even at discogs, I get nothing but releases from an 80s project fronted by three girls with perms (and I assume that's not what the talk here is about).

I think everybody has their own ideas about exactly what "accessibility" is. My plan is to cull through every single suggestion made and then, if you will, apply my own definition of "accessible" to it.

+minus - a rainy koran verse (trente oiseaux) > another one of the best

these are actually GREAT recommendations. I'm very pro-SOFA, Mural's "Nectars of Emergence" is great and "accessible" I guess.

this thread is like "what have I listened to on the stereo that didn't get our roommate to make a face or flee"

Are we still counting AMM as "eai" this week? If so I'd say Newfoundland is pretty damn accessible. I got a co-worker at my last job into that one, who wasn't even a hardcore music snob.

I prefer this
The Sealed Knot, Unwanted Object also on Confront.
and one not mentioned enough Akio Suzuki / David Toop, Breath - Taking which is my favorite from both of these musicians.

Also Trapist, Highway my friend, and pretty much anything Martin Siewert recorded at the turn of the century (like SSSD)

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

I'd suggest not making a mix, for this stuff really only makes sense as albums. You should bring him to some performances too (if you can). Seeing/hearing it live early on helped me get into this sort of stuff.

It all depends on what kinds of bands he's into too. Is he familiar with any Free Jazz? Noise? Music Concrete? If the dude considers Modest Mouse "out there" because they have two drummers, he's probably not going to be into Duos for Doris. Honestly I wouldn't even attempt to get somebody into this stuff unless they were already into noise and such, and even then I probably wouldn't try. Ether way I recommend

Schnee - Erstlive 003
Toshi Nakamura - No-Input Mixer vol 1
earlier Otomo Yoshihide
Martin Siewert/Martin Brandlmayr Too Beautiful To Burn

What the fuck is easy listening? Isn't that like lounge music or something?

+1 for recent SOFA stuff and The Sealed Knot. Also, as Bedouin said concerning Siewert, I would recommend this one:

pretty much what i have come to-i noticed when a few friends with whom i never discuss music asked if they might like a crow show, i said, "well..."
far from the proselytizing ass i was in the free jazz heyday days.

I approached with:

Nurse With Wounds - Rock'N'Roll Station
Zoviet France - Shouting At The Ground
Nocturnal Emission - Drowning In A Sea Of Bliss

Fennesz is nice too.

The ones that bugged me the most often become the favourites... Sachiko M and Sean Meehan, for example.

This one. What an amazing record. Experimental and improvised if you want, but also kinda rockish.
