N°2 is maybe my favorite part, especially the last third with that sporadic alien oil drill motif. In like vein nice to see someone mention Bayle's Toupie Dans Le Ciel, no one talks about that, time and again crushing.

Steve Reynolds: As far as the above, I guess I just picked one Mujician because all of them are great. It's difficult to narrow down choices when you have favorite bands like this. I would be hard pressed to say which Mujician recording is the "best." That would include some of the earliest recordings that Paul Dunmall posted a while back from his own cassettes. It saddens me to think that there won't be any new recordings from this awesome quartet with the recent passing of Tony Levin.

I think you can rate one Mujician recording towards another. Colours Fulfilled and Birdamn are recorded better, the drums sound MUCH better - especially on Birdman - and Dunmall plays better on both of those records than he does on Space Time or the last recording.

yes a damn shame but I was fortunate to see Dunmall-Rogers-Levin the last time they visited NYC around 2006.

They were a bit variable. There's a tune that's in my head of theirs that was great but all my Eggs vinyl is on the other side of the world so I can't go back and check right now which one it is. Their cover version of Love's "Willow Willow" on this tribute album (yes I have it on triple multi-coloured ten-inch, it was the nineties) is pretty damn good.

Unrest, Tsunami and Grenadine were my favourite bands from that scene. Oh, and Blast Off Country Style but I shouldn't admit to that.

Looking at these mostly great recordings on this and the "50" page,
it got me thinking of another kind of thread (maybe...) that really
would enable some real introspection and soul/history searching
whereby, considering our age differences, we try to provide close
to a chronological look at the various recordings that made a real
impact on us in a purely musical sense - ones that when you heard
them, you somehow physically reacted: gasped at it's amazing sound,
cried at it's overwhelming beauty, danced as if you were fervently in
love with it, etc... I say "purely" only to distinguish from something
that makes you say, "Oh, this will always remind me of that great..."
(cross-country drive, gorgeous person who worked at the ____,
amazing orgy after the party at _____'s house, etc.) It could be
quite enlightening...especially if you were to begin in your childhood
or teenage years. Would those recordings stay with you today as
something that would still resonate with you? Could that list be
paired down to the essential 5, 10 or 15 music-events of your life?
