some of the filtered (LFO-affected?) sounds, the sort of 'step-shaped' waves, cutoff/resonance effects, and how the sounds sustain/decay -- it reminds me of the ES1 synthesizer in LOGIC. Although I'm sure kfw is using actual analog gear to get these sounds.. as for the "autechre substitute" comment, it sounds more spacious, texturally-satisfying, and just generally more engaging/affecting than much of autechre's output in the last five years. maybe it's a stretch of a comparison.
