Nick Storring - Rife (Entr'acte, 2011)

Hey there, I'm sort of tooting my own horn here, but it's coming from genuine excitement over my first official release.

Entr'acte (http://www.entracte.co.uk)has decided to release some of my work later this year!

The disc is called "rife" and features 3 piece over the span of ten tracks.

The first piece is called "Artifacts", and spans 8 tracks. Created over 2007-9 Its sole sound source is a semi-broken violin given to me by my grandmother when I was a toddler. I've used a lot of computer processing, alongside a broken dictaphone, damaged CDs, a half-assed homemade talkbox, and intentionally corrupted MP3 files to process the source material. The first section won a national prize for emerging Canadian electroacoustic composers.

The next piece is called "Indices of Refraction" uses an array of instruments and field recordings as its source material and tends toward a vaguely less acousmatic-derived gestural world.

The final piece is a short ambient number made entirely with processed cello.

Mastering is being done by Giuseppe Ielasi (these are unmastered samples)
