(experimental) Music Jokes

Post by horaflora »

I came up with a couple this week, feel free to get stupid here, and workshop possible punchlines... I was tempted to put this up at iheartnoise instead, but then wanted to show how this board isn't as stuffy as it can sometimes come across to people
;)

I saw Ricardo Aria play last week; his set made a good case for why balloons work so well in experimental music, as otherwise they'd have to go 'pop'!

(groan 2x, also Judy Dunaway is useable here)

what did Stockhausen say to Cage when his preparations weren't quite gelling?
"Well don't have a timbre-tantrum, John Cage!"
(uhm, works best with ridiculous stockhausen accent on the punchline)

The only reason Francisco Lopez blindfolds his audience is because he so ugly.

Why are EAI musicians more rock'n'roll than rock'nroll?
They break their instruments before they play!

(though, if pressed, I don't know if I could come up with and examples of that, per se)

"Who's there?"
- 1:22 of silence -
"Hello?"

"Oh."

I sometimes (always) make embarrassing jokes about whatever I'm listening to when I use twitter at work.
I'm very embarrassing.

That was the only reply I got.

There must be some good riffs on the old 'an Englishman, Irishamn and Scotsman...' type jokes? Or any of the 'someone' goes into a bar gags...?

Radu Malfatti and Taku Sugimoto walk into a bar, 'what can I get you?' asks the barman...

'A couple of bacardi breezers please' came the reply.
'Why the long pause?' asks the barman.

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.
