With a fresh bachelor in my pocket in Sonic Arts, it's now time to use it for generating food-money.
I'm thinking anything that has to do with creative sound; sound editing, design, composing, recording, etc.
Right now I'm trying myself at contacting post production companies in Norway to freelance for, who seems interested in my strange background, as well as looking at art commissions.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Hints, tips, what to expect and such?
Especially in Britain, where I'll be living after the summer again, how to set up as a freelancer?
Not necessarily with freelancing, steady jobs working with sounds I should look into are good, too (maybe even better, but harder to get).

Nice one! Not that I have anything to offer, but would be fascinated to watch whatever progress you might have (as a current undergrad meself). Have been eyeing the MMus Creative Practice course at Goldsmiths, so would be great to learn what kind of current these sound-based things have out there in the real world.
Good luck anyways!

Thanks guys, will make sure to brag about any luck I probably won't have for many many years, haha.
I was thinking of that mmus at Goldsmiths called studio composition, seems pretty perfect. Maybe next year.
We should probably go together and start a sound art company. Nobody will understand what we'll be able to provide, but we'll definitely do it different than whoever else they were thinking of hiring. A film's sound recording done with only contact mic's you say?
What do you study at Cambridge, Lawrence?

Lol at the prospect! (Though, seriously, it would be good to try and establish a collective of young people doing this - I mean, surely there's a need for a new wave of concert-installations; practice seems to be, at the moment, a little polarised?).
Anyway, I study music, which is mostly essay based musicology. It's a conservative dept, but we do have Nick Cook as our head now, which is nice. Robin Holloway teaches composition - he's been employed by the uni for some 40ish years now, and I think that does things to you (not good things).
How did you find Middlesex? A good choice? Cat Hill is relatively near where I am now (Highams Park) - but it's hardly central!
