The Best of Ubu Web?
Re: The Best of Ubu Web?
not going to hunt down all the links, but i just noticed new stuff from kevin drumm (untitled LP), parmegiani, david behrman, etc.
Re: The Best of Ubu Web?
It's crazy the amount of stuff Ubu Web has up now. Do the artists themselves offer to make material available or is a request made to them? Just curious. Obviously some are no longer living, and others had issues with their material being hosted (Tony Conrad, for example).
Oh, to be a kid and discover all this stuff and have my mind blown.
Here's a film I'd hear mentioned in terms of Minimalism and was always curious about:
Michael Snow - Wavelength

Re: The Best of Ubu Web?
i still have never seen wavelength. trying to hold out for full-screen film. maybe/hopefully at my work this fall?
i think the policy with ubu is to basically post anything they are submitted that is reasonably hard to find (i poked around in their FAQ's a while ago, when i sent them stuff), that won't very clearly hurt the artist, etc. they will take stuff down if asked but don't seem in a big rush to police things. i assumed with contemporary people, either they or a label submitted, but maybe they were solicited. i get the sense kenny g proselytizes wherever he goes, so he could just be telling people he meets to submit.

Re: The Best of Ubu Web?
Thanks for the info on Ubu, Jesse.
I actually haven't seen it in full. For something like that, streaming video on a computer seems far from ideal. I just watched a tiny bit - enough to get a feel for it.jkudler wrote:i still have never seen wavelength. trying to hold out for full-screen film. maybe/hopefully at my work this fall?
Re: The Best of Ubu Web?
Anthology Film Archives in NYC seems to show it semifrequently, that was where I saw it a while back.
