the wonder pets are great but they really only do an unlimited number of variations on the same two songs...

"Why do they play so slow?"
Would you prefer something more upbeat?
"This is a long note. It probably lasts for a thousand days. They’re all dead by now, right?"
No, they’re still very much alive.
"If they're still alive, why do we have music by them? Is that like Mozart, when he was alive?"
Seconded, found them last night and I'm liking her songs a lot.anwandter wrote:Adriana Calcanhotto 'Partimpim'; it's brazilian music intended for kids; there is a DVD with a concert from this disc, where the musicians show how to make all the curious sounds, my children love it...
sounds like he's on the track to becoming a mainstream music critic.bryan wrote:My son, he's four and a half, recently asked "Daddy, is this music?" when I was playing some noise-sound based stuff in the car recently.
He's been hearing this type of stuff, but this is the first time he questioned if it was music.
Mesmerizing indeed, I'm playing it for the first time and it's sounding awesome. I also dl'd last night the Zorn "Music for Children", it has a few ADD/grindcore-plus-many-styles pieces that are funny.surfer wrote:

Those are from a kids TV show in Chile called Experimento Wayápolis, which is some sort of spin off of the absolutely awesome and hugely succesful 31 minutos. 31 minutos was aired in three seasons (2003-2005), made 3 or 4 cds (all recommended for kids and parents) and even a movie (2008). Basically they were puppets in a tv news show, with all what is "expected" in a tv show for kids (lessons, values and so on) but with a heavy dose of sarcasm and irony, directed to politics and tv industry. (Well, if you're a chilean you'll find it funny).Robert G wrote:Anyone here know of Los Plumabits? I have no idea what they are outside of a Facebook group page and these videos that are on YouTube. They're pretty awesome in that they win despite doing what most indie rock bands trying to be "weird" fail at.

I'm really enjoying Style City, kudos on having such a talented daughter!DaveX wrote:My kids (currently 5 and 10) enjoy pretty much any Sesame Street record we've got-- I collect these, so there's a lot of them around the house-- as well as random tropicalia, Mexican dance music, you name it. We had a high-life dance-off a few months ago, and they were loving it. Music is pretty well always on in the house, but it's mostly the beat-based stuff that gets their attention. My youngest digs Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, and stuff from the first OK Go album (I don't have the other ones) and can sing a lot of those songs. My oldest used to love the song "One Headlight" (The Wallflowers) as an infant, and also Imagination's "Body Talk". It's anybody's guess what kids will latch onto, ha!
But someone was requesting music by kids also-- my daughter made an album, "Style City," which some folks here might enjoy. It's a lo-fi drone affair, with strange lyrics about giant robots and death. Think Shaggs-meets-Eno. The trades-only physical copies are all gone now, but she's sharing the full album here:
