Got the Pisaro yesterday. This is some serious ear candy. (If that sounds superficial in light of everything else that has been said about the man's music, so be it. Erm, where's the percussion?) It immediately went on repeat for the whole family.

This is probably the wrong place, but since it's also not worth starting a thread and our conversation over the music digressed in that direction yesterday: Buying records feels better than almost ever these days. Part of it due to the fact that we have no loot, so I'm down to roughly one CD per month, as if saving pocket money. But mostly it's that we're now ordering from labels/artists directly, or else distributors from across the world whose names usually will also have appeared on record covers in some function or other. It probably sounds naive to spell this out, but I love getting envelopes from Norway or Australia, and since the early days spent hunting down Flying Nun records or Chemical Imbalance magazines, spending money on records has never felt healthier.

ha! i'll take the missing percussion as a compliment. the way the piece works, everything that is heard at the beginning is from field recordings, but by the end its all from percussion instruments. glad to hear that it's gone on loop for the family!
