Got a package of 3"s from our board's own Nicolás Carrasco last week, finally digging in right now.
Ensemble Majamama - sin título #1 [ejercicio #4]
Ulagula - sin título #2 [ulagula]
MC Cremino & DJ Babarruá - diégesis
not sure how I feel about the electronics duo MC Cremino/DJ Babarrua. A little gabby at first? Then I got distracted? Maybe just not my style but I'll give it more time; could be a grower.
But the other two are really good listens. Especially Ulagula! I had to play that disc a few times in a row. Trumpet/percussion/electronics/synth quartet and the interaction is so precise. There's this one real trumpet note toward the end that arrives so suddenly and is just so well placed that it slays me every time. The Ensemble Majamama piece is a much more static style of improv but there are definitely a lot of interesting layers floating through.
Looking at the group lineups, should I assume Sebastián Carrasco isn't actually related to you or Edén either?

I'm with you that the C&B one is gabby, completely. It is because the music was done for images (the first some sort of videoclip, the other two for a short film). Maybe next time you skip the first track.
Well, Sebastián is Edén brother, for real. I'm the no-brother of both. It makes me happy no end that you have liked the Ulagula, I wish I could play more with them to develop all the material we have. The piece contained in the minicdr is a composition for improvisors I wrote, some time segments and instructions for the electronics and synth to filter and manipulate the trumpet and percussion, and some drawings in ink and pencil for the trumpet and percussion players to be prepared in advance like a musical part.
And yeah, that trumpet blast was a surprise in the recording session and it is every time I play the record.

I love the 4 songs, Yonhosago. Nostalgia is ridiculously powerful, and when carried by music, irresistible. If your mother's voice is associated with these Strauss pieces, you're a lucky son.
