Tim Barnes + Tomas Korber second day, third set (homophoni)

You know this is pretty much how I remembered this set. But being able to set the volume myself I'm finding it a lot more enjoyable, the big grating washes are more like bursts of white noise at a more moderate level. This I think highlights one of many, many differences between live and recorded music: you not the musicians control the volume, which changes the musics impact.

that pic was taken from a recent ebay auction that ended under $20. i got it there for about $40 a few months back. just set up a saved search, it shows up every few months. someone (Perdition Plastics?) just reissued the first album, so it's possible this one is to follow, i guess.

not reissued. found an old box of copies.

Legion of Two is an industrial/metal/dub project from Alan O'Boyle and David Lacey and "Riffs" is their first (surprisingly good) album.

Really nice album, helps fill out the story of Wolff's piano pieces as told by the Hat, Matchless and Mode releases.

(though I gotta say, I wanna hear Tilbury playing the Tilbury Pieces sometime)

Do you like the Schleiermacher (Early Piano Pieces) performances?

Yeah I like that one quite a bit, the prepared piano pieces especially. With indeterminate music (and preparations I think can be thought of as a form of indeterminacy as they vary dramatically) I think the more versions the better. So its a great compliment to the Tilbury performances of those pieces that I have as well as a few earlier versions. I'd like to hear more though, I still think that Wolff is criminally under-recorded, though there has been more of late.

Agreed.

"Long Piano" and the recent orchestral music for starters. And "John Heartfield", "Basel" and "Metal & Breath"!

Sabine Liebner is a great pianist. I have three of her recordings, and like them very much: Morton Ferldman Triadic Memories and For Bunita Marcus/Palais de Mari, both in Oehms Classics and John Cage Music for Piano 1-84 in Neos. I've yet to get Christian Wolff Piano Pieces, but also Galina Ustvolskaya Complete Works for Piano, tbr next month by Neos.
