Patchy probably covers it, and I haven't got too much more to add. I really like the ones I mentioned in the original post with James Williamson either producing or as guitarist: New Values and (especially) Kill City. I like the slide guitar work, the piano-heavy production and the sleazy late-70s vibe. Some people rate The Idiot, but I find the songs mostly too monotonous. A few snail's-pace, synth-heavy dirges too many. "Funtime" is especially dreary, but it mostly seems murky and flat to me.Daniel Jones wrote:I'm gald to hear about these records. Kelley's an ideal player for Hell and Bunny's harsh environment trips, moulding a something out of the slowest of nothings. blah, blah, blah....

a Syd Barrett-mix I made years ago from the 3 LPs I know of him (though "Barrett" is hardly - if at all - represented).
I especially love those few tracks where Soft Machine are the (later added) backing band.
Some tracks sound to me like they could have been produced sometime in the mid80s by some creative hip alternate band.
