no wish to start a row (again !) but a joke is a joke. seems to me that was a rather good way for A.V. to show us all the funny side of all that un-apologized for stuff.

This tape is the shit. Side A: dada collage of practically everything, no 'music' except when the pops of the juxtapositions start to form a rhythm (or is it in my mind ?)

Side B: about 40 minutes of guitar-based improv, noisy but with space to breathe. Starts like sparse electro-acoustic improv before gradually moving into drone stuff...

fossils has been around a while though, hasn't he? wonder if i have any of his tapes.

Fossils is a trio, from Hamilton, Ontario. They've been releasing tapes and CDrs on their Middle James Co. label since about 2005 i think... neat group. I'd like to see them perform live.

I haven't been aware of him for a long time time, earliest tape I've got is his self-titled one of Fag Tapes (2004,2005 ?)

Since then, he has had at least 50 releases to his name on tapes or cd-rs, not counting comps or splits (!)

Yeah the amount of noise stuff is staggering, and if you add to that all the mellower drone stuff...

Fossils (weird)
Wasteland Jazz Unit (noise improv)
Ryan Jewell (guitar screech)
Goat (harsh)

i've only heard of some of those dudes, but goat i've seen play a couple of times. he's from around here somewhere, maybe dallas?

dude basically destroys a table covered in gear, both electronics and chunky metal. really exhilarating, though (maybe fortunately) it only last a couple of minutes. his stuff on tape is pretty different.

i think we had a tape noise thread recently, i should give it a bump.

For sure, I've lost track a fair bit myself. Howard Stelzer tipped me off to these guys and I'm from Hamilton (although you are best to stay clear of that place

Do you know the Montreal based Brise-Cul Records? They put out some cool drone based noise, as well as most other noise related musics. Of that camp, I've been hearing good things about GMACKRR, who is from France initially.

Goat - Oceanic Thrones

It's got a strange purity of sound to it, like the wind blowing or something, very dark haze of sound but not in the "dark ambient" sense of the word...

Not really familiar with them. I have the Oscillating Innards cd-r on that (btw: Nadir Emergence from last year was my favourite noise cd alongside Jason Crumer's Ottoman Black) and a Pulse Emitter... and never heard of GMACKRR !?! cool!
