That's a good one, lots of dense and tightly packed (and unusual) writing for big band.

Love this album!
Remember just before this came out, Ninh told me his next release would be subscription-supported release, which I thought was a novel idea at the time....

Yeah, this is easily one of my top 5 solo percussion records. The last track (rough translation: "Spectral Music On A Small Budget"?) still amazes me in terms of "sound sources".

He seems to be not as active a recording musician these days... or are there some recent releases of his I've missed and should endeavor to catch up on ASAP?

He seems to have taken a break from releasing CDs in 2003-2007, after the duo with Frédéric Blondy, the second solo, and releasing the Musique Actuelle set with Kazue Sawai, Doneda. Kazuo Imai, and Tetsu Saitoh. He's on one of those Grosse Abfahrt large-group discs on Emanem (2007), but that didn't really grab my attention, and he's not easy to make out on it. He's still playing live music more frequently. And from those there's a whole pile of recordings here, including a few full sets:

Samiyam - Return Ep

interesting instrumental hiphop w/ a sort of merck-ish vibe. ha, i swear it's better than that description suggests.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs mix I just made for one of my drum students.

I managed to convert one young drumming miss to the YYYs already (and now we deal with one or another YYYs-song from the drumming perspective - what fun).

This [Tetuzi Akiyama. Martin Taxt, Eivind Lønning, Espen Reinertsen, Varianter av døde traer on Sofa] is shockingly good. Why didn't it get any press?
I thought that was an interesting one, in parts at least. Its principal feature, as I remember it, is that it changes style with almost every track. The guitarist is also set against three brass and wind players (tuba, trumpet, sax and flute), who together in some parts form a kind of chorus. It opens with a drone, then lurches into guitar twanging and then on to pointillism and other stylistic references. As for press (unless you were referring just to IHM), it was reviewed extremely favourably by Kurt Gottschalk in Signal to Noise and by Philip Clark in the Wire.
Varianter av is fantastic, as is

Leo Brouwer - Rara (DG 20/21 Echo Series)
Unlike anything I heard from this guitar virtuoso, Rara (rarities) is a collection of very unconventional pieces performed in the 70s (including Cardew's Material amongst others). worth searching for it.
