listening to this now myself & it's really great so far
(i'm at track 1, which is the most recent of the two, will see how the other one goes)
but yea, good stuff there, 3-dimensional & quite exciting
Yeah that's a great album, a really enjoyable listen. I've long had problems with Phil Minton's vocalisations but for some reason in that group they work well. Its just good, thoroughly involving improv and sometimes that's all I need :)

Yeah, total agreement. I listended this three times testerday. Great album. The funny thing is that I put it on forgetting that Minton was on it, and it was a kind of shock when I heard his "singing".

Yes, there is that moment maybe ten minutes in when he suddenly appears out of the silence. That took me by surprise too and actually had me thinking "OH no here we go..." but from there on his contributions are very subtle and work well.

I bought this after seeing the group live in November and being won over my their sheer musicianship (not that I really needed any convincing)

Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

Public Image Limited live at the Palladium NY in April 1980.

- too much audience participation (in the form of doing lead vocals in Lydon's place)

Jah Wobble's bass sound is great here though... surprisingly aggressive, a bit like John Wetton's in 1974.

Takahiro Kawaguchi - n (Hibari)

Loving this. It seems to be made up entirely of massed sounds of ticking clocks and other simple mechanical elements. Kind of a cross between Taku Unami's mechanical toys on speed and my clock-loving Grandmother's old front room as the hour strikes midnight. Equally hypnotic and quite beautiful.

Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza
- Nuova Consonanza (1975)
- Musica su Schemi (1976)

This group is a total revelation for me. Both of these CDs are very good, but the highlight must be "Omaggio a Scelsi" from "Musica su Schemi". Best drone piece I heard in ages.

Now playing:

They were a fantastic group. Everything I've heard of theirs is well worth a listen, but my personal favourite is the disc on Edition RZ.

I'm currently enjoying the mini-cd from 'compost & height' with solos by Ferran Fages & Bhob Rainey. Both lovely.
And - though mini-cd's annoy me storage-wise - I also really enjoyed 'Ringing Light', Michael Vorfeld's recent one on 'esquilo'.
