Derrick Rose is already a very good player but Vinny having him guard LeBron is just stoopid. LeBron just showed me a move I haven't seen him do before when he spun into the middle for a left handed finger roll. It was so good I didn't even mind McLeod's description of it.

btw, Ben Wallace has seemingly found the fountain of youth.

The Bulls just looked terrible. Shooters who can't put the ball in the basket, bobbled rebounds, messing up getting into even simple sets. They had their one chance in the middle of the fourth, and they come down to Ben Gordon chucking one up early in the shot clock and Gooden chucking up a long airball. (God sakes, Drew, cut that thing off your chin.) It was discouraging to watch.

Definitely the bad hair team of the NBA although I'm glad that Gooden got rid of that weird mullet-patch thing he had going. The tranny-fundamental is one of the more normal looking players.

totally sick ending to Portland/Houston just now:

1) tied at 96 in OT, Brandon Roy dribbles down and hits a spinning away from the basket turnaround 21 footer to put Portland up 2 with 1.9 seconds to go.

2) Houston's inbound goes to Yao on the baseline with two guys draped all over him, he hits the jumper and is fouled, then hits the FT to put Houston up 1 with 0.8 seconds left.

3) Houston has Yao guarding the inbounds but Roy gets a pretty clean look, albeit from 30 feet out. swish, buzzer, ballgame.

Also, a big rumor going around that Pritchard's working to send a few Blazers for Gerald Wallace. Any number of combinations are being bandied about online, but they all involve Raef LaFrentz's expiring contract and either Martell Webster or Travis Outlaw. I'm all for it.

Larry, did you watch the Pistons-Nets last night? Detroit didn't play any defense. Josh Boone dominated the low post and Devin Harris drove the lane at will. Harris ended up with 38 points, 11 more than his prevous career high. He hurt his ankle though, and won't be playing tonight.

Sure did, Gordon. The defense was indeed absent, especially the interior defense.

I'm pretty excited about the AI trade right now, though. The thing he brings is the thing the Pistons have lacked in the playoffs the past few years. A guy who can break down the defense with dribble-drive penetration. The Pistons haven't had that this decade, really, and that has been the main reason they reach stretches where they can't score.

both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are going to be out for at least the next month, SA has 14 games in that time. they're 1-4 now (and that was mostly with Parker playing out of his mind). if they go 4-10 in those 14, they'll be at 5-14, meaning that to get to the approximately 50 wins it'll take to get into the West playoffs, they'll need to go 45-18 for the rest of the season. lottery bound?

I'm banking on Jon's "40 Games Rule" to rescue the Pistons, who look brutally out of sync with AI deferring way too much. Understandable that he doesn't want to come into a veteran team and start hogging the ball, but that's precisely what they need him to do.

yeah, they're ubiquitous and as dull as it gets, plus I'm entirely sick of Ginobili's flopping (he's great, he doesn't need to do that shit). the less they're a part of the postseason, the more potentially compelling it can be.

Brady you were right about, although to be fair at that point you just raved about everyone from all three Boston teams. Pierce was a pussy for years and years, and winning ten titles in a row won't change that. he and Garnett are exceedingly lucky they finally teamed up, they make up for each other's deficiencies really well.

Knicks with their most impressive effort in a long time tonight, blowing out Memphis on the road 132-103 and setting an alltime team record for 3 pointers made with 19. Wilson Chandler (another brilliant Isiah draft pick) and Nate Robinson, my two favorite Knicks, went a combined 19-20 from the floor for 48 points in 63 minutes. NY scored 109 points IN THE FINAL THREE QUARTERS ALONE. D'Antoni is very impressive so far, the roster is the same as last year except for the addition of Duhon (and the forced nonexistence of Marbury and Curry).

Mo Weeyums is turning out to be a very good acquisition by Ferry. Sasha Pavlovic played 11:28 without attempting a shot; if that isn't against the collective bargaining agreement it should be.

Everybody's talking about AI going to Detroit but Chauncey B has adjusted to George Karl's uptempo offense nicely, scoring 26 on 9-13 shooting.

Reggie Theus fined $25K for calling 36-17 free throw disparity "ridiculous"; doesn't Reggie know that Stern cleaned out all the non-ridiculous refs with a "thorough investigation"? Does Seattle really miss their 1-7 former team?

They continued at that level for the first half against the woeful Thunder last night. The Knicks players seem almost giddy this year, playing for a great coach and decent guy. It was nice to see David Lee get rewarded for moving without the ball. Have the Knicks removed Zach Randolph from the trade block? The positive environment on the team may keep him in line and playing great team ball like he has so far.
