Re: Post if you voted.
little man had to wait in line a 2nd time with pops but it was only 25 minutes.
my girl's working the polls. it might get hectic, but don't let a wait deter you.

I just did, not much line here but it's the middle of the work day.
listening to the Rowe/Beins ErstLive on my iPod while I did so (the Guantanamo Bay news reports), our long national nightmare may be almost over (soon the wave of unconscionable pardons will begin)...

Re: Post if you voted.
I voted about 2.5 weeks ago, absentee. They closed the polling place at our local elementary school because it wasnt serving enough people, and the local officials told all of us we'd have to vote absentee. Its been great, no matter where I live, I will never go to another polling place again. I like being able to take my time with the ballot, esp when we have so many propositions (county measures + state props = 15 or so).
Absentee is the way to go, esp if you are a misanthrope.

Re: Post if you voted.
There was a healthy line at the elementary school across the street from my place. I was #31 this morning in line.
Now I just have to resist refreshing news sites for 6 hours until results start pouring in.
Seriously so many propositions/initiatives here in California/Oakland.
edited to say, I saw a woman with a smug look and a Nader button and felt irrationally violent. I really really hope this doesn't go badly.

Just got back. The elderly women volunteering there were super-excited to see so many young people out and about.
Re: Post if you voted.
ain't that the truth - I voted last week by mail.surfer wrote:Absentee is the way to go, esp if you are a misanthrope.

Coincidence -- I've gotten to know the student host of a one hour radio show on UNC's station called Broken Music, airs every Sunday. I lent him this disc and he played it start to finish this past weekend in honor of the election.jon abbey wrote:listening to the Rowe/Beins ErstLive on my iPod while I did so (the Guantanamo Bay news reports), our long national nightmare may be almost over (soon the wave of unconscionable pardons will begin)...

Just voted, in Michigan, which is probably going to go to Obama anyhow. I'm definitely not an Obama enthusiast, but I think that an Obama presidency lays better foundations for progressive change than a McCain presidency. With any luck, in 20 years his current platform will seem oddly conservative.
Here's to election day going well.

Re: Post if you voted.
I voted first thing this morning, where I've done so for 18 years.
They usually have four to eight booths depending on whether it's
a presidential election or an off year. Today there were at least
24 booths, and they had it in an expanded room. No wait, but
every booth was filled.
My vote, of course, went to the National Surrealist Party.

Re: Post if you voted.
CNN reported that there are five hour waits some places in Virginia, pretty crazy.

Virginia is for lovers, so I'm sure they're passing the time
