I'm biased because Mary's a good friend but the one duo I have of hers with WW is full ahead steam.RFKorp wrote:I saw Weasel and Peter Evans play a kickass set recently. apparently just after playing a bunch of trios with Mary Halvorson. Now THAT sounds like an album that needs to be released (no offense meant to damon smith and james fei, I'll probably pick this one up too!).

I'm in the telephone waiting queue of our electricity provider already for a while, turned on the telephone's loud-speaker, and so listen to a piano-based 4-bar loop of muzak in hope of having my call answered soon.
Re: what are you listening to? a second wave

a gift, because I gave someone a ride. so I'm checkin' it out.

Here's one I haven't listened to in years...I like what I'm hearing so far.

Last Exit (I believe this is their premiere - 6-Feb-86)
What I heard of those February gigs is not yet that band-clichee/routine-based than later recordings. The structures are more open and not yet so much a string of formal "modules".

Some Irish Fellas and a Welshman - Begorrah [Cathnor]
Ha, Richard, who decided on these tags? I enjoyed the disc, by the way.

Ryu Hankil/Jin Sangtae/Choi Joonyong - 5 modules I [Manual]
My first listen. Enjoyed it. I admit I only have mp3s of it, but I think I will be buying this soon. I kind of wish it were on CD instead of CDR though.

Nicholas Szczepanik - Sundries [Test Tube]
I would buy this, if it were for sale.

The Cure - Disintegration [Elektra, etc.]

Murcof - Remembranza [Leaf]
First listen.

Cecil Taylor-William Parker-Masashi Harada - The Dance Project
Hot stuff....obviously I hold Taylor's music in high regard....It's great to see FMP is back in action after the legal hassles they've been through over the last few years!

I really like this, for the most part, but there's a couple of bits that frustrate me - my favourite section ( with the recording of the beehives) cuts out just as it's really getting into something spectacular, and the shortwave track goes on a bit long, doesn't do enough compared to the rest of it.kangaroo? wrote:

to Salty Swift: to: I think Reign In Blood is still superrelevant today. Besides the great songs, the timeless production of Rick Rubin has a big impact. I listen to it weekly. It still sounds quite modern. It's hard to come up with another thrash-album that doesn't sound particular eighties or nineties.

Asva - What You Don't Know Is Frontier

The song "a game in hell, hard work in heaven" is phenomenal. Funny title...
