Yep, one that grows on me every time I hear it. I like to think I might have had a tiny part in that release coming into existenceskrobek wrote:

Cranes - Wings of Joy
Re: what are you listening to? a second wave
This is a sui generis treatment of bowed string instruments. a great tactile range of textures, massed and clustered voicings for violin/viola, drone and odd episodes of melody. Really strong, chiefly for being sui generis in an area of music enervated by sameness and stuckness.

That's correct, Jon. I was at a concert recently with Morgan, and he has much of his catalogue collecting dust in his home.jon abbey wrote: I don't know if anything on Meniscus is actually OOP, just maybe not distributed and sitting in Jon Morgan's house. what were you looking for specifically?

yeah, his distribution was never good. I bought a whole bunch from him when he shut down the label, and still should have at least some titles in stock.

Yep, this is my favourite the three Vanessas I've heard to date. Good stuff!Jesse wrote:

Some of my favorite Tilbury arpeggi, along with the Feldman Allpiano works, and the great source, Duos For Doris.

If the three you've heard are the Music Appreciation releases, I'm with you.Dan Warburton wrote:

Yeah you're probably right. About 2/3 of the catalog is still currently distributed by Metamkine for example. Actually I was referring to Meniscus as a fine label that sadly went "out of business" (if I dare say). On the contrary I know for sure that some crucial stuff is really hard to find from the two others I mentioned (e.g. Dörner solo disc on A Bruit Secret or Butcher solo on Fringes). This is regrettable.jon abbey wrote:I don't know if anything on Meniscus is actually OOP, just maybe not distributed and sitting in Jon Morgan's house. what were you looking for specifically?
You're correct. I'm aware of how hard it can be nowadays and I certainly bow to your hard work, enthusiasm, perseverance for putting out releases! Same goes for Jon Abbey, Jacques Oger and other IHM posters who do the same "job"...Richard Pinnell wrote:Have you ever tried running a label in today's climate? I'm imagining not.

I caught them in their home town a couple weeks ago, used to be a huge fan before they fell off the map (as a unit, not musically). They definitely stood out in an area I really had little concern for. Pretty solid show, same trademark light gauge sound if you will. Packed house, reminded me I was indeed thirty-one years old.the_mission wrote:polvo are amazing

Really nice work, a little reminiscent to me of Keith Berry's stuff.
