Hey guys!
Any reviews or reports from these shows?

The New Monuments looks like a crazy group on paper. I'd love to know if they pull it off in concert.

The line-up on the Boston show looks like it could've been an awesome night of music.

i'd say it's fairly in the free jazz idiom, with spencer layering in more droney tones and noise. hall smacking away like a champ, and dietrich blowing his brains out, with a bunch of pedals and some feedback interludes. i felt like their show here was a bit under-served by the acoustics of the space, which made things a bit smeary (i couldn't hear much detail in spencer's sound, for instance), but still impressively fucking loud and heavy. they have cd's too, and they will have more after the tour.

Sounds like it was a good match-up with Heathen Shame at the Boston show!

They sounded great at Bard on Sunday night. I think Jesse's description is fairly apt, but the distinguishing feature for me was the pure energy. I haven't listened to much free or out jazz in a long long time, so it was refreshing for me to see these three give it so much raw drive and power in a live context. I bought one of the tour recordings from Ben (they sold the previous night's cdrs at each show) and it's equally blown out and full of energy. Spencer added a lot on Sunday, although I wish he had been louder in the mix. Still, he gave the whole thing a very necessary textural element. Looking forward to hearing more from them.
