Re: places online to order music from that rule
this may be partly due to a recent price rise in the cost of posting from the USA to overseasjon abbey wrote:FWIW, I don't keep specific track, but I'd guess that for ErstDist, the percentage of orders coming from Europe is down in the last year and the percentage coming from the US is up, in addition to overall sales constantly trending downwards. I've been expecting more European orders with the dollar's decline, but they really haven't come.

I doubt it, my shipping prices haven't changed much.

IMO, it is not the shipping cost but the updated information. the reason why i did not buy so many US release is i know very little about the scenes, the musicians, the events etc... i need more exploration about the current US experimental scene, some website recommended? without visiting the artist personal website?
Re: places online to order music from that rule
not what we're talking about, Lee. most of the stuff I stock at ErstDist isn't by Americans, including a few titles by yourself.

i leave out something. i should said that if i like to buy cd released in Europe, i will get in from Europe; if i like to buy cd released in Asia, i will get it in Asia. the only reason i will buy cd from US is, they are from US (or canada). the reason why i did not buy so many US release is.....jon abbey wrote:not what we're talking about, Lee. most of the stuff I stock at ErstDist isn't by Americans, including a few titles by yourself.

esquilo newsletter wrote:SHUTTING DOWN SALE
After almost 3 months without selling a single CD from the labels we distribute / sell on our website it is now time to regrettably make the decision we have been postponing for about a year: we are shutting down our online shop.
The steep continuous decrease in sales over the past year and half and the disappearance of all of our regular customers (who were instrumental to keep the online shop alive for so long) couldn't have a different outcome for us.
In order to clear some room and raise some income for future ESQUILO releases we are launching a shutting down sale starting right now: all items will be sold with 30% discount. Just deduct 30% from the price you see on the site and that will be your final price with postage included. If you are unclear on how to calculate the discount just let us know which releases you want and we'll send you a total.
Please note that none of the ESQUILO releases are part of this sale - they will continue to be sold at their normal prices.
We are sending this sale announcement to the members of our mailing list first, before making it public, so we can benefit the customers who have helped us over the years. Please bear in mind that some discs are single items at the moment.
ESQUILO, the label, will obviously continue its work, though it's unlikely that we'll have any new releases this year (it will probably be the first year without an ESQUILO release since we started back in 2005).
We will also keep distributing small quantities of the labels we represent in Portugal to a couple of shops in our country, as long as there is some demand for them.
Thank you to everyone that helped our online shop throughout the years and we look forward to your orders.
Best regards,
ESQUILO RECORDS

well now, if even an online store has to close because of lack of sales, it really is a world turned upside down......

has anyone dealt with oppositerecords.com? They've got such a trove of OOP stuff listed that I wonder if they simply went out of business and left the site up.
Re: places online to order music from that rule
I just successfully ordered a few things from them in July. go for it.simplicio wrote:has anyone dealt with oppositerecords.com? They've got such a trove of OOP stuff listed that I wonder if they simply went out of business and left the site up.
