Experimental music should be something that suggests a way of organizing your thinking, your attitude toward the world, which suggests that the world could be different.

Hugh Davies Warming Up With the Iceman (Grob)

Finally managed to get a real copy of of this thanks to the discogs.com marketplace. I've listened to my ripped copies plenty of time and this album is definitely a winner. There seem to be copies around so get it if you have yet to.

(Also just got finished listening to audition (another fine show boys) and I have to say avoid the John Mueller Table of Elements Guitar Series LP at all costs. Goddamn what a horrible waste of time. The Collections of Colonies of Bees one they played last week was if anything worse.)

I was going to go home and listen to Audition as well...But I stopped at a new bookshop in my neighborhood..It was having a "Grand Re-Opening" I walk in and was rather shocked to see Fred Lonberg-Holm setting up his Cello and toys ( he carries them in a red Snap-On Tools box..)

A local promoter ( Ross Compton ) had him down to do a free show ( pardon the pun ). A fair portion of the audience was utterly flummoxed..

It was mostly the gabby, busy improv thing that drive many of my fellow posters up the wall...but I dug it..( I also got to sit in a nice comfortable armchair after being on my feet all day )He also did the passive feedback exploration thing he did on that Emenem release..A very enjoyable way to pass a Sunday afternoon..

Thanks, we're finally getting the hang of it :)

I'm not quite sure what I said on air but I think the Collections of Colonies of Bees LP is pretty good. The Mueller solo less so. Anyone heard his "Metals" CD on ToTE? I've heard it's heavymetaltastic.

Well to each their own of course, but I didn't much care for what you played last week. But that Mueller solo, ugh what a waste of vinyl.

I've just looked and it was four shows ago - :o - feels like yesterday. See me in my pants and ting.

We played some of that Toshi solo last week though.

I like Mueller's Metals release, taking it for what it is-a very circumscribed area of drum patterns explored through repetition and small incremental elaborations. It rocks.

I think this is one of the best SF releases I've heard.

Dave, if you're plumbing the Sublime Frequencies stuff, check out The Streets Of Lhasa joint. I have tons of recordings from Tibet and this is pretty great.
