Notable discs 2008

After the lists of best of the year, it is usual that feel that many of the releases I have overlooked at the time, perhaps because they often occupied my time listening to records oldest, reissues etc. ... I wish that we were commenting on this topic records (any style) that have been published in 2008 and which I think are remarkable for the rest. I think it could give us an overview that can help us useful to devote one hour of listening to a disc.

My intention would be that people mention that the discs have been edited in 2008 what we consider and that are worthy of listening, for example "Toshimaru Nakamura / English (Joe Foster, Bonnie Jones) - One Day (Erstwhile)."

My work for Free Software Series, I already have my copies, I suppose that one of these days the site will be updated and may already be downloaded from archive.org. It is loud Stuff , but I like and I think that although not in your current limit (live because there is nothing registered for the moment) will be a little more quiet.

I don't think so. Maybe this thread could help us to buy some discs before they'll be out of print.

well, I think you gave an inappropriate example, because IMO there's only one disc released on Erstwhile in 2008, which really deserves to sold out.

This thread should be dedicated only to this years' discs. The Best of 2008 is too, but I suppose you won't be able to buy all of them in January or February, because some releases will surely be OOP.

This thread should be dedicated only to this years' discs. The Best of 2008 is too, but I suppose you won't be able to buy all of them in January or February, because some releases will surely be OOP.

My idea of this thread, it might look like, talk about interesting discs of 2008, since in the lists of the best of the year, often omitted many disks and effect would be a good guide to listen, buy or download. Anyway I understand what you said Dan.

perhaps the vinyl looks well and sounds well, and the cover is great, but i don't own one. i only have the cd and don't like it much (blame it on vocals)

I also think this is notable, if mainly for its ambitiousness. I haven't been much of a fan of this particular stage of Bryan's solo music, but there are few musicians I respect and admire more than Bryan, and I think this juggernaut release is a pretty fine example of what his music can do.

that's the best part of a release like this, to let it play for 3+ hours, imho.

I've been listening to this quite a bit since I first got it...about 2 months ago. Previously, I only had a couple things from Parmegiani, and love them. "La Creation Du Monde" and the stuff from the INA-Grm archive box...so I saw this as a pretty cheap way of accumlating his entire output. (Well almost entire, still some stuff missing like is experimental film soundtracks).

Anyway...I think it's really consistantly great over it's 12 cd length and there is some stuff on here that just leaves me slack-jawed. "Enfer" and "Violostries" are two that come to mind immediately..but really, it's all fantastic!
