Trans made a big impression on me. Not just Davey, but Ladonna Smith as well ( she is a heroic improvisor ). When they played Grand Rapids ( the second time ) I picked them up at the Greyhound station ( touring on a shoestring )...Davey borrowed my Peavey "Backstage Plus" amp with it's rattly speaker and dubious reverb. He made me feel alright by saying it was his amp of choice...They played to a crowd of fifteen. Bliss.

Though I've heard mixed reviews of this record, I've always really enjoyed it. George Duvivier's bass playing is particularly on point.

He thinks it's ok, but the tempo is wrong. From what I understood there are plans to re-record it - at a much slower tempo.

Half boiled egg (3 minutes), take off from the shell and put in a little cup, plus a drop of soya sauce = marvellous, fantastic pleasure, paradise...

I love eggs anyhow... but that one is really incredible...

Tonight's concert is being recorded Luis, so maybe tonight will be that slower performance.

Those two passed through here ages ago......audience was about double of the concert you attended

That looks like a Swans-re-release series. I purchased the similarly designed "Filth/Body to Body, Job to Job" a while ago, but was a little disappointed. The first impression wasn't that it kicks ass, but that it's rather stiff. I think the raw "production charateristics" of a crappy audience-taped club recording would do the harshness of their early music more justice.

Well, in that case you should certainly get Children of God. It's probably the best album Swans did in the 80s (and amongst my favourite albums).

I think it would have worked better without The World of Skin disc. Same era, but World of Skin is a side project of cover tunes. The double re-issue albums are hit and miss but Soundtracks for the Blind, their last studio album, is also superb.
