The best part is that the idea itself is a rip-off. The joke that keeps on giving, indeed.RFKorp wrote:http://twitter.com/trace_being/status/8252086156

Re: kevin drumm
is this coming on perdition also?jon abbey wrote:s/t is also coming on vinyl in feb, according to KD. I should have copies of the reprint CDs at erstdist within the week.
do you have any more info on this? specifically if it's going to be super delux/ expensive?
thanks.
Re: kevin drumm
the vinyl release is not going to be on perdition plastics. i can't guess a price, but it's supposed to be a high-quality double lp so 'cheap' probably isn't it.

Re: kevin drumm
yeah, I don't know the label either, but I know it's supposed to be out very soon, and with additional previously unreleased material from that session/time (!).
Re: kevin drumm
Had an email exchange with KD a few weeks back. He let me know about the aforementioned LP reissue of the s/t (with unreleased tracks from the era as the 4th side), as well as something else. I asked him if it was cool to let the word out about these projects but since he didn't say and some time has passed, I assume it's cool:
"In April there's going to be a boxset on Pica disc, 5 cds of some out of print and unreleased stuff.
the box will contain the out of print malaise 2xcass,light's out(which is available for free on the blog),hour long organ track from comedy, some out of print vinyl and about 80 minutes of unreleased stuff new and old."
Very excited to get this.

Sounds pretty cool indeed!snailed wrote:"In April there's going to be a boxset on Pica disc, 5 cds of some out of print and unreleased stuff.

But after all these boxsets from Pica, this one almost comes as expected! I know Lasse Marhaug doesn't like to communicate about releases from his label before they're finalized so we'll have to wait I guess...
Also taking a look at the Pica Disk homepage, I found this incredible thing:
Oh well not so incredible after all:Pica Disc wrote:In 2010 Pica Disk ventures on its most ambitious project yet: to release one Jazkamer CD-album every month of the year. The Jazkamer 2010-series will be 12 proper new albums. The idea is to keep things exciting all the way, so in keeping with Jazkamer’s eclectic tradition of making very different sounding records, each monthly album will be different from the previous installments. The 2010-series will cover the wide (non)musical range Jazkamer has become known for since they started in 1998
I won't get any of this stuff but still that makes me wonder who's gonna be buying that? Oh well who cares?Tzadik wrote:2010 will be a landmark year for John Zorn who promises 12 new CD releases-one every month! Included will be new music from The Dreamers, Moonchild and Alhambra, 3 new releases in The Book of Angels series, a major new studio composition dedicated to the Korean-American writer Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, a classical release featuring his acclaimed violin concerto Contes des Fées, the DVD release of his opera with Richard Foreman ASTRONOME, a ripping improvised duo recording with Fred Frith and undoubtedly several surprises. Most of the recordings are already completed and the release schedule set, so keep your eyes and ears open and expect a new Zorn release every 4th Tuesday of the month in 2010!
Re: kevin drumm
maybe they'll collaborate and we'll only have to ignore one new cd per month instead of two?
i mean, i'm fine with marhaug, but there's no shortage already available. and zorn, well, not so fine.

Re: kevin drumm
Doesn't Zorn release nearly a CD a month anyway? It's not like it'll be much of a stretch for him. Or particularly interesting for listeners.

Oh really? I don't have much to say about Zorn, but the Jazkamer offerings sound pretty good. I'll probably pick the metal and grindcore ones up at some point, would be curious to hear the blues oine too.

The 2010-series will cover the wide (non)musical range Jazkamer has become known for since they started in 1998. This includes:
• First studio recordings of the metal line-up since ”Metal Music Machine” album
• New ”Art Breaker”-style grindcore recordings
• New ”Panic”-style broken-blues material
• Collaborations with John Wiese, Putrefier, Government Alpha and others
• Material with regular four-piece line-up of Hegre, Marhaug, Gross and Drønen
• And much, much more. Expect some surprises along the way also.
Re: kevin drumm
actually i had taken it to be all-new solo recordings. if that's not the case then it's not ignorable at all.
apologies for not reading carefully.

he's selling the reissues, which apparently have inferior print quality on the packaging, but whatever, totally a steal.jkudler wrote:(including the i think long OOP first and second solo discs)
Re: kevin drumm
There is a nice article in the Wire's April issue regarding the reissues.
Re: kevin drumm
Did the Wire article have anything particularly interesting in it?
Re: kevin drumm
about to read it. . . but how about that photo.. .?
Re: kevin drumm
made it through two paragraphs before terms like "sensual austerity" and phrases like "it succeeds in usurping its cultural capital. . ." caused me to wonder "who the hell WROTE this??" OH. keenan. skimmed to the phrase "revisioned by the kind of visceral hendrix-inspired modernism that also infects pita's 'get out'." decided to table this until more coffee is consumed.
Re: kevin drumm
this is exactly why I've never bought an issue of the wire.
