Jason Kahn - Sihl
After those resonnant currents I felt like something more tumultuous and claustrophobic so put on this one:

JGrzinich & Seth Nehil - Confluence
Both are great.

Listening to the Uchida because it was readily available.
Very different from Kempff.
Not sure which I like better yet. I know the Kempff well.
Will look for the others.
Again, thank you.

yeah, i think this is one of the more accessible ones (and really really good too!) the great recordings always take some time to sink in, i think.Alastair wrote:Stick with it.resortto wrote:MIMEO & John Tilbury - The Hands Of Caravaggio
I'm pretty new to this area of music. this one is hard to get a grasp on.
What're you finding hard to grasp? Interested.

I can't really say. there is just a lot going on. I think I am looking for something more subdued.Alastair wrote:Stick with it.resortto wrote:MIMEO & John Tilbury - The Hands Of Caravaggio

I see where you are coming from. It's a great record, but there are so many players, and so much is going on... I like to know exactly who is doing what as well, and that's impossible with this (well, you can pick out tilbury and cor fuhler, but that's about it). I think the main obstacle to getting into this kind of stuff is learning to focus on texture and dynamics rather than rhythm and melody, IMO. Once it clicks though, you won't be able to get enough of it - or such was the case with me anyway... kudos to you for making the effort. It took a few listens for me but obviously in retrospect I think it was worth it, EAI is the most interesting music happening right now for my tastes...resortto wrote:I can't really say. there is just a lot going on.
