I remember reading somewhere when Brendan Walls last record was released (Outposts) that Christoph Heemann had revived the label for that and was planning to do a Jim O' box set soon to boot. I took it with a pinch of salt at the time, maybe another five years in the pipeline. But seeing that he is continuing to release stuff on Dom Bartwuchs i wonder if there is any truth in the rumour.

Anyone know anymore?

I heard from the source a couple of years back that a Jim O vinyl box of early work was definitely in the works. I saw it listed in his forthcoming discography recently, so I'm sure it's still coming. It's no big surprise to me that they're taking their time with it. I expect it's a priority, just not a very high one.

I like the original a lot, but this "II" business seems like just a way to latch onto the original's credibility and allure - it's not much old stuff - 7 new songs, though the two that are described as over 18 minutes are intriguing. On a Young related note, his "Rust Never Sleeps" concert film is fucking great.

yeah, it's mostly interesting in that it might be his first album in a long time to not stick to one style or area. he's done explicit sequels before, it's just one of those things you have to say, "ok, whatever, neil."
