Sorry Lutz and son, no can do. Hope you had a nice time anyway at the shiny new stadium.Wombatz wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 11:12 amso we watched the man u game at the bricklayers in the night shadows of white hart lane. in front of us was a table of koreans, three of whom wore son jerseys, plus two other son jerseys (on other folk in the room). kane, romero (?!), and dele once. the mood was negligible, but i wouldn't hold it against the pub. we have tickets for sunday ... maybe spurs can put in a shift, just this once, for us?
I agree with you Lutz. Since the footsie with City, I dont think managers get hired at Spurs without the tacit agreement and consultation with Harry and possibly Son. And I dont think either of them want to or are able to consistently play a high press. Theyre getting older and dont have the legs for it, and I think Harry in particular is looking to extend his career and go after Shearers record. Extended injuries would obviously derail that and I think he wants to play a lower effort medium block and counterattack style which fits with the last three managers. He does not want to go back to a Poch style press.Wombatz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 5:05 pm
... it's clear that spurs cannot play a high press, but unpredictable little press gangs work well for them, as in the opening minutes ... tell kane to stay up front and drop deep only occasionally for some more surprises. don't play through the back. run around some. i think conte expects too much of the individual and they can't deliver. what spurs haven't tried yet is a collective approach with a proper tactics geek, we want tüchel!![]()
"And through this there was a familiar sadness about watching Harry Kane in this team. He roams across those spaces, looks for stray balls. It’s just a kind of scavenging existence, living off your wits, pushing that trolley across an empty landscape. Early on Son picked up the ball, ran forward, saw only Kane surrounded by white shirts, then just turned and ran back – towards what exactly? – before finding himself surrounded." - Barney Ronay
Roger thoughts on this weekend? Im sure Spurs will lose or at best draw, esp missing Son, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Romero. They are down to stone soup.roger.haddad. wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 11:08 pmDecided to tune in to the Spurs/OM game since Liverpool were already through. What a rollercoaster.
haha yeah we discussed him too, he would be such a good fit now and of course the energy would be welcome.

we'll be watching the world cup without any moral qualms but without much initial enthusiasm either. we just hope for the early demise of england so kane can get some sleep, for the early demise of germany because any nation state celebrations right here right now would make us puke, and for the coming out of some qatari functionary. just looking at the names of the teams, i will root for senegal, coasta rica, mexico, and of course the hosts. and messi will finally get his world cup.
