I don't have an account there, and I heard it is not easy to get one, but does it really worth it?

Four invites to spare here. And yes, you fools, it's more than worth it.

1. Open your ports
2. Keep your downloads seeded for as long as possible which will give you a 10% bonus in direct proportion to the amount uploaded for the particular torrent.
3. Early on, take advantage of MOM uploads (50% seeding bonus) and Featured Torrents which are 'free leech' and only effect your u/l rate.

English subs were recently added for Sharunas Bartas' latest, Indigène d'Eurasie aka Eastern Drift.

do they ever have freeleech? I've grabbed two films so far, but nothing has uploaded from either. glad I finally got to see Teshigahara's Man Without a Map, although it's a very odd one, like everyone involved stopped caring in the middle somewhere.

I think they've only had a site-wide freeleech one time since I've been a member. But if you're worried about maintaining a good ratio, just grab the featured torrents (they're always FL), and you should get some decent upload credit from those.

Akerman's reputedly fantastic Portrait of a Young Girl at the End of the 1960s in Brussels (her installment in a series of one-hour television episodes about adolescence) was recently uploaded. Still waiting for English subs, though.

I just discovered there have been some good Fassbinder uploads and upgrades recently, including Lili Marleen (the uncut version), I Only Want You To Love Me, and Despair. Glad I'll finally get to see these, all of them were previously only available in lousy transfers or dubs or compromised versions. Now if only Jail Bait could come out in a good version somewhere.

I also downloaded Man Without a Map but haven't watched it yet. That was my favorite Abe novel though, so I'm excited.

Karagarga have changed the way their featured torrents work and in the process have activated all previous Featured Torrents and are keeping them free-to-leech indefinitely! This is obviously great news for us with trouble maintaining our ratio, as now we have 183 torrents where only upload bytes count.

Can someone recommend some films from these featured torrents? There's now a new browse-option just for featured torrents, which makes it easy to go through them...

I saw that they changed the featured torrents recently. But I am having trouble with it, I've downloaded some featured torrents and am uploading them but they didn't improve my ratio. Does anyone know why this might be the case?

Are you sure they've actually been uploading (and not just seeding)? I mean, have you registered some upload activity in your Bitorrent client? For me they've worked very well - in a week I've already gotten almost 1GB of upload just out of these featured torrents. (Although to be honest that figure confuses me a bit as well, since judging by uTorrents uploaded megabytes, it should be closer to 500mb. Perhaps the bonus MB, which I don't quite understand, factor in somehow.)

And to follow on my own question, I've now downloaded the following featured torrents, which all seem worthwhile:
Andrew Kotting - Gallivant (1997)
Lucile Hadzihalilovic - Innocence [+Extras] (2004)
Mohsen Makhmalbaf - Nun va Goldoon AKA A Matter of Innocence (1996)
Yoshishige Yoshida - Onna no mizuumi aka Woman of the Lake (1966)
Garin Nugroho - Opera Jawa aka Requiem from Java [+Extras] (2006)
Albert Brooks - Real Life (1979)
Pat O'Neill - Water and Power (1989)

Although I haven't actually gotten around watching any of them yet, so I can't really vouch for them.

Hi guys!

I would really appreciate an invitation to Karagarga!! if there are still around any invitations

I am an MA student doing research on new American Cinema: Mekas, Markopoulos, Brakhage, Warhol, etc. So it would be really useful for me to have access to a huge archive like karagarga.
PS. Also through my University' s film collection if i get to karagarga i would rip and upload many rare films by: Lemaitre, McLaren, Kubelka, Snow, and many many more!

Thanks in advance

Pan

Stoopid newbie question here - have downloaded a few things but nothing seems to be going back up, and I'm supposed to put 3G back in the first two weeks or get canned.. I guess I must have a port closed or something.. anyone know which port I should open? Thanks for your help, excuse the dumb question..

I was under the impression that nobody downloads on this site. I don't know how people do, but it was impossible for me to keep their ratio requirements. Fortunately, there are other websites such as emule, bt.eutorrents.me, or surreal-movies.

The worst thing is there doesn't seem to be any way I can contact the Powers That Be there to ask these silly ratio questions.. it's like trying to become a freemason

you need to join their forum for starters, which requires a separate login, and they have extensive help/directions there. I have had the same issue, though, and the one time I tried to fix it, it temporarily messed up my computer, so I went back to the original settings and have a low ratio there. I keep meaning to get around to fixing it, but haven't as of yet.

Opening a port is easy (though it seems to work at random with me), keeping a high ratio on karagarga isn't, unless you are ready to make subtitles files, upload videos, or pay, which I am not. I don't want to sound dispiriting but I remember being a little upset by the site's rules, its sometimes tantalizing resources, and finally its overall pettiness.
