what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
i finally have a working account and a ratio over 1. i've grabbed a few things (portabella's cuadecuc-vampir, two early kelly reichardt demi-features, a dirty three documentary, and a few obscure neil young and bob dylan films: journey through the past, trans solo and eat the document). obviously there is a ton of stuff there, just thought i would start the ball rolling on anything really rare, really awesome, or musically relevant, etc.
Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
i can really only go after things that are free to dl. maintaining ratio there is a pain.

is there a way to search for free-leech stuff? it is easier to maintain a ratio in general if you keep your DLs seeding 24/7/365, fwiw.
Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
the masters of the month tab should have a filter already set for those.
otherwise it's just the stuff in the right-hand panel, as far as i know.

I don't have any music-focused recs, but I've found a lot of gems at KG. They have so much obscure stuff, generally in the best possible quality, and often stuff that can't be found elsewhere.
There's tons of rare Godard, Rivette and Rohmer on there that is otherwise unavailable with English subs: all, or nearly all, of Godard's Dziga Vertov Group films and a bunch of his 70s video-essays; Rivette's great Duelle and Noroit diptych (his best films IMO); super-obscure but wonderful Rohmers like 4 Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle.
Renoir's La nuit du carrefour is another one I got from there and loved, an early example of film noir style.
There's a nice collection of Bruce Conner's experimental short films, including the seminal Report and A Movie.
Most of Guy Debord's films are up there, notably his film version of Society of the Spectacle.
It's the only place I've found Mademoiselle Fifi, an oddball non-horror Val Lewton production and the first film directed by Robert Wise, certainly a must-see for Lewton fans and an interesting film if not quite a great one.
There's a wealth of early Howard Hawks films on there, again not for everyone but if, like me, you have a love of Hawks, these rarely-seen films provide a new perspective on him. I especially recommend the silent A Girl in Every Port.

it's not quite film noir, but this is a lovely film. get it if you can.sevenarts wrote: Renoir's La nuit du carrefour is another one I got from there and loved, an early example of film noir style.

Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
Yeah, not really noir, but an early pointer in that direction, anyway, with its moody/foggy visuals and femme fatales. It's great, in any event.leroysghost wrote:it's not quite film noir, but this is a lovely film. get it if you can.sevenarts wrote: Renoir's La nuit du carrefour is another one I got from there and loved, an early example of film noir style.

Is there someone who could share with me an invite on karagarga?
This would be much appreciated.

i got a bunch of random stuff, bunch of westerns and random examples of film makers i know of but haven't seen. i'd post a list but i would probably embarrass myself.
good times, but i don't think they will hit the target to have another free leech.

I'd really like an invite too if someone has one. I wasn't into watching films on my computer monitor for a long time, but now I am and would really appreciate being hooked up if possible...

Ok so I used to know how to use karagarga but have forgotten how. I'm trying to upload a file but when I click upload I get this message:
You can only upload something new after you have uploaded at least 3GBs (you only have uploaded 1.58GBs so far) on the torrents you've downloaded. This is to make sure you have understood what we're about, that you have a feel for the site, and are planning to stay around.
How do I upload the torrents I've downloaded when it's not letting me upload anything?
I would post this in the kg forum but I'm pretty scared of those people.

Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
Maybe it's this: while you DL something, you also upload. And you have to reach 3GB ?
In the right top corner, what numbers do you have (near the ratio) ?

Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
Before you are allowed to upload your own torrents, you have to upload 3 GB on torrents you've downloaded from other people. So after you download something, just leave it seeding.cheerios wrote:How do I upload the torrents I've downloaded when it's not letting me upload anything?

This can be hard to do at KG because a lot of torrents aren't very active so it can take a while for you to get any upload. I'd recommend downloading the Featured Torrents, even if you're not interested in the movies - the download doesn't count on those, but the upload does, and the torrents are very active since they only help your ratio. Download a few of those and you should hit 3 GB of upload pretty quickly.
Re: what's worth grabbing on karagarga?
ok thanks for pointing this out. I figured it out it seems. I downloaded some feature torrents and they are uploading quite nicely. Though I am still having trouble figuring out how to upload a new torrent. This might take awhile lol.
