Re: Some potential down time.
hey everyone. there's going to be about 2 hours of downtime on the night of December 15th (Wednesday) between 8pm and 6am eastern US time. i don't know when exactly, but if you're on the site that night just give it a bit of time and try again. in my experience the 2-hour downtimes rarely last half ...

Re: Some potential down time.
Welcome back, thanks Mark - though we were warned, I forgot to make a copy of those last two film review posts - I'm assuming they're lost and gone forever (are they?), so I'll try & rewrite them from memory. Cheers i could conceivably rebuild the old site and copy a couple things over manually, bu...

Re: Some potential down time.
Well yay it's been a month and this isn't finished yet. thought it would be this weekend but the db is too large for me to transfer and i'll have to get the hosts to do it for me. which means i've got even less control over how long it will take than usual. I'm going to aim to get it done next week....

Some potential down time.
Hi everyone. Long time no message. Our host is requiring an internal platform migration. I don't know how much of a pain this is going to be, or if it will be much of a pain at all. But there will probably be a bit of downtime, not exactly sure when since I'm not exactly sure what i need to do. More...

Re: ihatemusic not secure?
this forum doesn't support https connections. i don't really know how to fix it, but if you're terribly worried about someone snatching your ihm password somehow i guess you could use a different password from anything critical or at risk. i don't see any obvious fixes that i'm likely to implement, ...

yeah there are some random comp tracks on the collection cds, but i don't like how they are packaged all that much and prefer the vinyl for the most part.

there's theoretically a dedicated subforum for live show write-ups but i'm the only one who uses it for that.

Re: AEU Festival, Fridman Galley in NYC June 17*18 2016
the evening set started off with a bit of a surprise: tucker dulin at the front of the stage invites everyone to get up and take a walk with him to a small park down the street, where his duo with ben owen would be taking place. so a gentle stroll on a perfect evening leads us to a small paved park ...

Re: AEU Festival, Fridman Galley in NYC June 17*18 2016
so after trekking up to mid town for levain cookies and then mistiming some trains from brooklyn, i missed the first 15 minutes of the trio set. however, it was a long performance so i still caught plenty of music. sarah hennies performed on vibraphone to the left, mike bullock played double bass an...

Re: AEU Festival, Fridman Galley in NYC June 17*18 2016
the second half of day 1 is the haziest in my memory, mostly because 4 hour bus rides aren't supposed to take 7 hours and i'd actually never seen any of the performers live before. forgive me if my details are particularly poor. the third set of the night was the duo of tim albro and aaron zarzutski...

AEU Festival, Fridman Galley in NYC June 17*18 2016
so this past weekend was the first official festival of the american electroacoustic underground, an organization too nebulous to qualify as loosely organize and kind of sort of sprouted from this board once upon a time. more specifically this festival recognized past and future pairings from the er...

Re: Tetuzi Akiyama/Bryan Eubanks /Jason Kahn/Toshimaru Nakam
i enjoyed their boston stop, though less than i have enjoyed pretty much all of these musicians in the past. jason does fine on the drumset but doesn't really have as much to distinguish his music from a number of other improvising drummers when he's not working with the stripped down kit. i agree t...

i don't imagine my account-merging tool still works, but if you manage to identify any of your posts from way back i'd give it a try.

Re: amplify 2015: exploratory (subtitled can i still do this
and down to the final set. kevin drumm. jason lescalleet. jason had his full loop and reel rig, along with laptop, turntable and accessories. kevin had his laptop and a few more boxes on the table in front of him. none of that matters much because the set will be performed in darkness in front of a ...

Re: amplify 2015: exploratory (subtitled can i still do this
the second set of the final day was somehow the strangest. a first duo performance for taku unami and devin disanto, who had previously collaborated in a trio in japan. taku had his fans and laptop. devin had.. a microphone, a powerpoint presentation with recorded audio, a couple of bells, some othe...
