a lot of what i've been listening to over the last few days was mastered by joe panzner... recordings characterised by a marked clarity and strong physicality, i wonder how much of this has to do with the mastering process or if the recordings are simply of really high quality

I'm revisiting tons of e.f.i. & free jazz I haven't heard for 10-20 years. Today I listened to a random 3-hour play-list featuring Alexander von Schlippenbach, ranging from 1967 to mid-80s. The usual stuff... early Schoof Quintet, Schlippenbach Trio/Quartet, Globe Unity Orchestra, duet with Sven-Ake Johansson, solo... loved most of what I heard.

Among the tracks was "Ciclone" from "Detto Fra Di Noi". Fantastic. Probably my favorite Schlippenbach track from my favorite Schlippenbach-LP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZX064T6CYc
