I'm looking to buy a line 6 pod to get many different effects for the guitar and microphone. What would you say is a good model to get?

It depends on your actual setup.
I have a HD 500 since end of last year and I go straight to PA or to the mixing board together with some other gear like synth, microphones or laptop. I also use fx in the fx-loop of the pod.
I'm pretty satisfied with this solution.
