Barry Chabala's take on Pisaro's An Unrhymed Chord (for 25 acoustic guitars) on Confront.

What I like about Midhopestones is the sheer depth of the bottom end. Rhodri Davies's harp sounds like the vibration of the Earth.

yeah, i really dig that one. but "kravis rhonn project" (annette krebs and rhodri davies) is the one i can't seem to get out of the cd player. really, really strong, a bit mysterious and almost arbitrary, in a good way. i have a few minor issues (mostly, the loud samples), but even those sort of serve the work in the end, by adding some layer of difficulty/problem that gives me something to chew on. great disc. have we talked about it much here?

I haven't heard the Krebs/Rhodri release, jesse-the only discussion I recall was about Krebs' use of samples, apparently the same sourced stuff being used across a number of releases, one of which, iirc, was the AT duo.

ah, too bad - woulda been curious your opinion. yeah, she uses the same samples elsewhere and in various live sets, though i don't particularly notice that element (familiar samples) here personally.

presumably you haven't heard her solo 3 inch on Absinth in the Berlin Electronics set? I played that a ton, so it was disappointing that the same source material was so intrinsic to the centerpiece track here. still maybe my favorite Another Timbre disc, though.

yeah, aside from maybe a clip online or something, i haven't heard it. that would probably irk me (hearing kravis rhonn after that).
