Seemed like there was kind of a divine karma at work in that game.

so it's understandably going to get lost amidst all of that craziness, but one play I absolutely could not believe was CIN's attempted two point conversion after they went up 16-15. obviously you go for two there, but HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU CALL A PLAY INVOLVING A LATERAL? if PIT somehow gets ahold of that and runs it back, they take the lead!

I'm really glad I didn't watch that POS game for multiple reasons, but mainly because it exemplified everything wrong with the GFL.

Something always goes terribly wrong inside his head when there are two minutes or less remaining in a half.Captain Hate wrote:Why would Chuckie return to coaching when he makes a shitload of money making dumb statements. Andy Reid and Les Miles prove you can be an absolute dunce at clock management and still be considered an excellent head coach.
But, as much as I've never liked Reid, the last two games he's called have been fantastic (outside of his obviously contractual 2 minute warning lapses). I'm not sure I've seen another team completely neutralize Watt like the Chiefs did yesterday. That was astonishing.

Why don't you like Reid? 11 playoff teams in 17 years without ever having a star QB is dammed good.Mo Noyz wrote:Something always goes terribly wrong inside his head when there are two minutes or less remaining in a half.Captain Hate wrote:Why would Chuckie return to coaching when he makes a shitload of money making dumb statements. Re: NFL 2015
It mostly stems from his terrible play calling and clock management in crucial moments that always ends up fucking over his team. Super Bowl 39 being the most glaring example.
That said, I think he has really coached his ass off this season and has the Chiefs playing well above their paygrade. So while I still don't like him, I have really enjoyed watching him work this season.

I don't think I've ever seen a bigger collapse in all my life of watching sports. I had a feeling it was going to happen when the Bengals intercepted the ball and then ran all the way to the other side of the field and into the tunnel. They were acting like the game was over. It's amazing to me how stupid football players sometimes are, but I imagine it's just a product of the energy and emotion they need to summon in order to perform.
Re: NFL 2015
It was exciting in a way, but also awful--like boxers beating the shit out of each other. What was that college basketball game involving Cincinnati and some rival team year or two ago that broke out into a riot? I was reminded of that. It really did seem like justice in the end when the guy who injured Rothlisberger and had the beautiful interception that should have sealed the game, also had the penalty that eventually lost it. His hit on Antonio Brown was absolutely disgusting.Captain Hate wrote:I'm really glad I didn't watch that POS game for multiple reasons, but mainly because it exemplified everything wrong with the GFL.
I note that there was a torpedo helmet to helmet hit by a Steeler defender causing a Bengal receiver departure not long before that which wasn't called. If the refs had called the game tightly and evenly from the start, it's possible (though still not likely, I admit), that it wouldn't have gotten so badly out of hand by the closing minutes.

Not only that, but he's claiming Brown flopped.

For a minute I actually thought he might have killed Brown. So hideous.Jason Bivins wrote:Not only that, but he's claiming Brown flopped.

Re: NFL 2015
Can you explain that? It seemed sensible to me. If they succeed, a Pitt. FG only ties the game. If they don't, what's the difference? (I agree that the lateral was dumb, but I don't think that was the play that was actually called--seemed like a bail-out)jon abbey wrote:so it's understandably going to get lost amidst all of that craziness, but one play I absolutely could not believe was CIN's attempted two point conversion after they went up 16-15.

The number of people who deserve to be hung by the neck is huge. First that dogshit ref crew for losing control of the game. Second Marvin Lewis for playing out of control players and Mike Brown for not having previously fired him. Third Nantzy boy and Opie for being such clueless turds and not calling the game straight up. Fourth Goodellspeak for being the ringmaster for this shitshow. And finally the Jets for letting this trash Stooler team into the playoffs.walto wrote:I note that there was a torpedo helmet to helmet hit by a Steeler defender causing a Bengal receiver departure not long before that which wasn't called. I thought Tomlin's two point attempt was much more ill advised than that of the Bungles.

Just when I thought I couldn't hate the fucking Vikings any more...
I hope if that asshole kicker calls the suicide hotline they hang up on him.

Re: NFL 2015
The yakkers blamed the holder. Dunno about suicide, but probably neither of their lives is worth a plug nickel if they leave their homes for the next couple of weeks.
All I know is, that's two consecutive games with outcomes on which I probably would have bet my house with about one minute left (if anybody would have taken those bets), that turned out the other way.

Re: NFL 2015
I was pointing out to Wynton all afternoon how badly the holder was fucking up (though one was on a very high snap, so not all his fault). Walsh is one of the best kickers in the league, but that holder shouldn't have a job by the end of the day.
Re: NFL 2015
the GB/Seattle game in last year's playoffs was right up there also as far as collapses also, GB was up 19-7 when they got the ball back on their own 31 with 3:52 left, and eventually won in OT 28-22, giving up 3 TD drives totalling over 200 yards in about 7 minutes of game time.crawjo wrote:I don't think I've ever seen a bigger collapse in all my life of watching sports. Re: NFL 2015
yeah, they had to go for 2, I said that, but under no circumstances should you try a lateral there when you're only winning by 1 point, IMO.walto wrote:Can you explain that? It seemed sensible to me.
